BDFlag After <<<wc 2007>>> what the negatives n possitives we got

*****Hi friendz....i tried to findout some negative things that we r facing now as a team...
1) lack of inspiration
2) poor n inexperienced bowling
3) lack of commitment
4) losing mentality
5) a poor and very non inspiring coach
6) the last n the most important: a confused board n their selectors
*****Here r some positives that we got as a team....
1) Good batting depth
2) good individual performance
3) fitness is good enough to field 50 over n get centuries
4) mortaza is an inspiring captain and the most experienced guy
now see the pos. and neg. we r missing the whole winning formula...i agree our batting is better now, our players r confident enough...but we r missing match winners...Ashraful is out of form n ate all the skills he had, Mashrafe is fighting hard but didn't reach that level, Our main bowler Razzak forgot all the variations n line after changing his action, The '''''77'''' Rafique has retired so naturally our bowling become totally toothless...but the foolish selectors didn't try new genuine bowlers from our domestic like shajib, sunny, sadat, Shuvashish, Emon etc...they also turned some genuine batsmen as alrounder like Naeem...also afraid to experiment...Under Shakib captaincy the team learned how to do ""Grouping."" Icl players are also responsible for this situation....i hope the players will correct and understand those little mistakes with the guideline of new bowling and fielding coaches...and perform as a team...May allah bless Tigers

  1. there is no good batting yet to win a match. it hasn't been proved thereby you cant guarantee the batting depth
  2. rather I would say individual crap. individual crap make you happy as long as you see that individual innings. but its cant manage a win.team effort is the last word.
  3. some players still dont pass the international fitness level
  4. Mortaza's experience doesn't matter if others cant help him getting the necessary long cherished win!

now sum it up

So how do you expect this rookies to bat? They're doing a decent job to say the least, I didn't obviously expect any Tendulkaresque performance from them, maybe you did.

How well can batsmen with relatively poor FC averages survive in Intl. scenario? These guys (top order especially) are fighting their guts out to put up a good fight and you're complaining about batting depth. LAWL.

@OP - Agree with most parts. Bowling has shown no consistency whatsoever, and if they start performing, more matches will be won on a regular basis.

we have a good batting lineup but for some f'ing reason, the entire order doesn't click together on the same day,we desperately need a good fielding and bowling coach,we need to have a winning mentality.

according to me,if we can improve in these three points,we will be giving goosebumps to all cricket playing nations including netherlands!

Our batting success in 2009 is over rated:

I had a quick look at our 2009 matches. Most of them were against weaker opponents.

ODIs:
14 ODIs against Zimbabwe, 10 wins, 4 losses
3 ODIs against West Indies, 3 wins, 0 losses
2 ODIs against Sri Lanka, 1 win, 1 loss

Both West Indies and Zimbabwe were in total disarray and although those wins were valuable, the opponents' inability also contributed a lot to our success. The win against Sri Lanka was superb (in fact we were going to win the 2nd match as well, if there were no Murali with the bat); but in both those matches our bowling did the trick for us.

Tests:
We played only 3 tests, 2 against West Indies both of which were won and 1 against SL, which was lost by 465 runs with our batsmen scoring 208 and 158. Again credit to our boys for winning against the WI; but it was a WI in total disarray and we were further aided by their catch drops.

T20s:
We played 3 T20s against Ireland, India and West Indies a piece and lost all of them without competting much in any of them. Our batting scored 118, 137 and 155, where the last score was while we were chasing 180 and the match was over long before Naeem hit 3 sixes to a seemingly respectable total.

Where do we actually stand?
We were actually deprived by the FTP during the whole 2009. We played only 5 matches (2 ODIs, 1 test, 2 T20s) against quality opponents. This gave us the chance for improving our stats. We found a few of our batsmen scoring good here and there, our SLAs getting cheap West Indian and Zimbabwean wickets and we were happy.

It was a chance for us to build the winning mentality, which would be a great thing to face tougher challenges in 2010. Unfortunately, the coach went with the cheaper tactics of personal improvement and the outcome is showing! Apart from Tamim, none of the superstars in 2009 is scoring consistently against stronger opponents and the 'team' has no clue how to win.

Our success in the 2007 World Cup was not telling the true story about the team performance. We played well against India and SA and that's all. We lost to Ireland and even Bermuda gave us a real scare. Had it not been that 'you score 30 and i score 30' innings from Ashraful and Mukuddem had a few more overs to bowl, we would be big trouble. After the WC, everyone focused on the India success ignoring the problems.

In the current team, we have better players, many of these guys were on par at age levels with G8 teams. But the 'team' has not got stronger. We still lose the same way. To make it to the second round in the WC2011, we need to work hard during the remaining months and that work needs to go towards the right direction. The bullcraps like personal improvement will not work.

Top post, I am afraid but our WC 2007 was not a "huge success" story as many of us[Bangldeshis like to think]. Yes we did pull off an exceptional performance against India and played very well against the then #1 team South Africa, but as you said "thats it".
We have some world class and some world class potential players, its time they play as a team and learn how to win. The team made several mistakes in the past, but what's gone is gone. Let's hope the players pay attention to the job ahead and at least reach the second round of WC 11.
