Default World club cup (including bangladesh)

World Club Cup of Cricket

Please read this post 2-3 times before replying.

This is the suggestion for a Tournament involving club teams all around the globe.

It will be a tournament consisting of 40 teams divided into 4 groups on continent basis.

Example:

Group (Continent)

Country – No. of clubs

Gr A (Asia)

India – 2 (eg.CSK,MI)
Pakistan - 2
Sri Lanka - 2
Afghanistan - 1
Nepal -1
China -1
Malaysia – 1

Gr B (Austral-Asia)

Australia – 3 (eg.NSW,SAR)
New Zealand – 2
India – 2
Bangladesh – 2
UAE – 1

Gr C (Europe)

England – 4 (eg.Yorks,Lancs)
Ireland - 1
Holland - 2
Scotland – 1
Belgium - 1
Denmark - 1

Gr D (Africa & America)

South Africa – 3 (eg.Cobras,Dolphins)
Zimbabwe - 1
Kenya - 1
Canada - 1
West Indies - 2
Argentina - 1
USA – 1

The Format of the tournament will be Pro35.

Teams will qualify on the basis of their positions in their respective National Pro 35 League.

For Example – Top 3 teams of South Africa & top team of Denmark qualifies for the World Club Cup.

Teams of a group will play against each other home and away basis.

Matches will be played only on Sat nights & Sun afternoons.

After the group stage :
  • The top 3 teams of each group will proceed to the next round called The League of the Best Dozen .

  • Teams will play against each other on home and away basis except the teams of the same group of group stage.

  • The top 4 teams of The League of the Best Dozen will play the semi-finals.

  • The semi-finals and final will be played in a specific format.

  • The format is : each team will play each other in home and away basis and the last match (if required) will be played in a neutral venue.

  • i.e. Best of Threes

Thus,a team will have to play 42 matches till the last final.

This will be a huge achievement for a club and will make the tournament more prestigious than even the UEFA Champions League of football or the World Cups of any sport.
  • This tournament will also provide huge exposure to the players of the associate nations and their performances will improve by leaps & bounds when they play for their national teams.

  • Players wont be exhausted as matches will be held only on Sat or Sun i.e. around 6 matches per month they will get the whole week to practice & improve their games.

  • One compulsory thing is that all the clubs participating in it will have to give full time contracts to the players.
  • Players will be permitted to go to international duties, other reserve or youth players will take their place.

The Cup will be telecast all around the world by different TV channels (regionwise thus atleast 10 matches can be played in a single Saturday night) with awesome coverage , TV graphics and changing jersey designs (home & away).

Big marketing campaigns will be done before every match.

The duration of the tournament may be around 5-6 months or more not less, once a year.

Players performing well here will be MegaStars overnight.

For example :

Ryan Ten Doeschate ( Amtelveen Cricket Club )

Mtchs 42
Runs 2037
Avg 59.9
Best 157*
100s 2
50s 10
S/R 102.7

Dale Steyn ( Cape Cobras )

Mtchs 42
Wkts 103
Avg 23.9
Best 23/6
5wkts 5
S/R 21.7

The Man of the Series will get a huge prize money , IPL contract and a Mercedes Benz car.

This tournament will be a shot in the arm for Cricket in Cricket vs Football popularity battle and it will shape the future of cricket in a humongous way.

It will bring together the artistry and brain of cricket from every corner of the globe and lead to new discoveries and talents which we thought never existed.

So , please let us the cricket fans around the world stand united and present The World Club Cup idea to the ICC.

IT'S NOW OR NEVER.

International calendar is too stretched to include such a big tournament.

Please man, intl cricket start to wear off few years ago but is starting to revive. Now even intl cricketers get a huge amount of money.

The match fee for Aus players is a MINIMUM of $5000-20000, as far as I know. Also, they play huge amount of match, plus advertisement, plus salary, plus winning fee, plus pricze money....

BTW, this tournament will be an epic fail since only players like Ash will play

Its time for intl cricket to become stronger. What Hritik has mentioned is that there will be club teams from Denmark, a country in which no one knows how to play cricket. Also Denmark is not suitable for playing cricket

This format would really help people take cricket as a profession. But as Imteaz bro said, its hugely unrealistic. Not only in this century, I don't see anything similar happening in another 200 years.
Every sports has their own format of growth, tennis for instance don't try to follow how football is plays all year round or etc. Cricket revolves around International teams, and thats how it's gonna be for a while.
