Thumbs up Pakistan will win this T20 World Cup!!

Reasons why Pakistan will win this tournament

1) 1992 we lost to India but we won the tournament. We have lost to India already in bowl outs

2) We won in Ramazan in 1992 and now again its Ramazan

3) In 1992 we lost Waqar before tournament started and similarly we have lost
Shoaib before tournament had started

4) In 1992 we found Inzamamul Haq and now we have found Misbah ul Haq. Ul Haq in 1992 and Ul Haq in 2007

5)in 1992 we found a great left arm fast bowler in Wasim .. now we have found another in Tanvir.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plus we've already beaten two of the TOP teams in the competition!!

Over my deadbody! Either Aus/SL, or S. Africa. My prediction is, Pakistan will lose miserably in the Semis. There is a good chance they will lose also against us.

Pakistan have lost all 4 games they played against India in the WC, still they won only once

Waqar was injured, and Shoaib injured someone else. Moreover, Waqar made a return to the team, whereas I don't see Shoaib returning to the team after that disgraceful incident.

If I remember properly, Misbah's debut was back in 2001, and if you call a 33+ year old guy as new find, its ur call then

Before that world cup, Wasim (debut was sometime around 85-86) had already played in another one in '87 and proved himself as a worldclass bowler. People used to compare him with legendary Alan Davidson already by that time. And now you are comapring Tanvir with Wasim.

Take 1996 WC :

Quote:
1) 1992 we lost to India but we won the tournament. We have lost to India already in bowl outs
Pakistan lost to India but got knocked out

Quote:
2) We won in Ramazan in 1992 and now again its Ramazan
The 1996 World cup began during Ramazan, because of which Pakistan played its first game a few days after the tournament started (despite being the host)

Quote:
3) In 1992 we lost Waqar before tournament started and similarly we have lost
Shoaib before tournament had started
Wasim disappeared just before the crucial quarter final and we know the rest

Too bad Pakistan did not win the 2007 World Cup despite Shoaib's disappearance

More seriously though, Pakistan does have a good chance in this format. As said elsewhere, the only surprise has been that they have been winning games in normal fashion, instead of on the basis of savage innings by Afridi, Malik or Nazir.

Well said...

Yes, Wasim made his debut long before the 92 WC. The only reason Pak might win this world cup will be consistent good cricket.

Anything can happen in semi final and final. Twenty20 is highly unpredictable. But its true that they beat two powerhouses of cricketing world on Monday and Tuesday.

we had just beaten Aus so i think we have an even chance against them
in case of Sl i dont know way but they always lose against us so i dont see them as a big threat
S. Africa is big concern though

Well SA is out, so it between Pak or Aus.

India and Nz have a slight chance though.

thr votes were always against pakistan since the thread was started. as the match started, votes started coming in and when i last checked, just before posting my previous message, it was 11 all. now it seems it is 11/12 to pakistan not winning it.

India too had some patterns going for them from 1983 world cup, viz:

1. A new youthful captain Kapildev ( 1983) and Dhoni(2007) was appointed in place of the earlier defensive captains ( Gavaskar & Dravid respectively).

2. India, on both the occasions were considered no hopers.

3. In both the tournaments, Australia lost their opening match against Zimbabwe.

4. In both the tournaments, India met the same team twice-in their first match as well as in the final, and won on both occasions. (Met West Indies in 1983, Pakistan in 2007 twice)

4. In both the finals, India batted first to score a paltry total, but defended the total successfully.

5. An Indian opener was the top scorer of the final in both occasions ( Srikkanth in 1983, Gambhir in 2007)

6. On both occasions, it was an Indian all rounder taking 3 cheap wickets who was man of the match ( Mohinder Amarnath in 1983, Irfan Pathan in 2007).
