As per Papon, they will go with one specialist SLA and one less batsman in the next match. I think this is the right course of action, nothing drastic.

Quote:
Nazmul, who is now in Nelson with the team, said: “We need a specialist bowler and most probably they will pick an additional spinner against England. But it can be different in the game against New Zealand where we can go with eight batsmen.

I simply don't see any advantage of Rubel and Taskin over Sunny and Taijul.
If we have both Sunny and Taijul, most like ENG can be tied down within 250, even if they have most wickets in hand.

Against ENG, attack will be the best defense and best offense. Play with our strength, play with what will work. Play with spin. Hopefully we don't to have to remind the coach and captain that, if you win the toss, you bat first.

I am waiting for the day when we will get some decent smart people in team management.

That leaves us with Australia, a team with no spin attack and Scotland... the Shak-Taijul-Sunny combo is better than all the teams mentioned above and on a slower pitch, they will be very economical and grab a handful. Spinners are doing pretty well in this WC considering the conditions. Ashwin, Tahir, Vettori, Herath are all doing very well. Its us that are acting like our spinners cant perform unless they are playing on minefields. Truth is they can still perform better than our seamers at seaming conditions 9 out of 10 times

It is a MUST to play both Sunny and Taijul if we want to win this match.

Sunny will control the run rate and Taijul will get the wickets = simple as that.

I think some of you making too much of a big deal out of Scots making 300+ against us. They are a decent team (especially Coetzer), the field was small, the outfield was fast, the wicket was flat as it can be. The pacers could have done better holding their nerves steady, but they crumbled under the pressure. This sort things are pretty normal in ODI cricket nowadays.

The fact that England has no variety (three tall right arm seamers who bowl in the high 130s and can't get the ball to swing) has been their undoing.
The way our pacers bowled against Scotland and Sri Lanka, I don't see how our pacers going to win the match for the tigers.

Pacers have to be spot on with variations on speed, swing, line and length, otherwise, we are going to give away the result in favour of the English.

I am more concern about how our pacers bowled rather than how the Scottish have played!

Against Lanka, the pacers were let down by terrible fielding. They lost heart too early in the match, which they should not. But if you want to point out the lack of resilience, the whole Bangladesh team is blameworthy in this regard.

Why does he have to talk about everything? Team selection on tour depends on the coaches and the captain and vice-captain. Why does Papon try to interfere here?

Worst type of evil idiot.

True.

We have to play our best to beat the English and it won't be easy, thus, every player has to play his best and contribute accordingly. Let's hope for the best

Top post. If 5-6 chances go down how come the bolwers do their job?

The problem here is that all of the spinners are SLA and no sense in playing 3 SLAs. Lets bring in Taijul or Arafat, Riad and Nasir can bowl their offies in tandem.

If I remember correctly, Sunny does not really have much a variety. Unlike Shak or Taj, he does not drift the ball, or turn it, but just bowls flat and fast. In Australian condition, where wicket provides regular bounce, anyone with good hand-eye coordination (Hales, Buttler) should be able to blast him out of the field on regular basis.

Not sure why you would want to sacrifice the third pacer for him

we dont ever blame our seamers for not picking wickets. But we saw the game and some of us believe that the way they bowled despite the dropped chances and miss fieldings was still very poor. I saw every single delivery of the 10 overs Taskin bowled, I saw every single of the 9 Rubel bowled..... Why were they let down when really the chances were dropped off Mashrafe?

but the way I remember, Arafat bowls with a good control and accuracy and mixes his speed up fairly well with an effective arm bowl.... And let me tell u something, bounce is not a bad element to spin and creates issues if the batsman isnt fast enough in adjusting his feet

^^ With someone like Sunny, it's not that hard to see where to ball is going to land and how fast it's coming to bat (again, because of the regular bounce of the pitch, and because of lack of drift and turn). Don't see why a whole lot of adjustment will be needed on batsmen's part playing him.

Seeing the English cricketers playing late, you might be spot on on Sunny and how the English might play him...

Well, then Taijul, Shak, Mullah and Nasir might be enough, iff, our pacers keep their line and length right ->

Now we're talking.
If I were coach I'd give Mash and Taskin license to kill and ask Rubel/Shafiul to slow it down considerably and just target the right areas. It's easier to target the right areas when you're not going for express pace.

I admit I don't watch the whole innings when Bangladesh bowl. From what I have seen of Rubel so far, he bowls pretty well, ie in right areas against right handers. But he fails to adjust against left handers. If the trend continues, he should sit out the England match (keeping Moeen and Morgan in mind, assuming Ballance will sit out to make room for Hales) and Shafi should be given a go.

You must play your best bowlers - whether spinner or pacer.

Taskin - I am not impressed. He has pace but no control of line or length. But style ta bhaloi mare.
Rubel - No brain.

Shafiul is much better option.

Actually for Rubel, there can be another solution too. We should consider letting Shak open with Mash anyway, to get Moeen out asap. If Shak-Mash fail, bring in Taskin. Rubel can be brought in once lefty is gone.

Main thing is that we need variety in our bowling so we can deploy different strategy for different scenarios.

More over, why does he give out the team selection ahead of the match, thus allowing opponents to prepare with lesser speculations?? It's stupid actually if he has said that
