The Mohammad Sharif Thread
Mohammad Sharif is a living legend of Bangladesh cricket. This diminutive pacer is one of the very rare pacers in our country who has had a long career despite many injuries and adversities.
He took Bangladesh domestic league by a storm and made his debut for Bangladesh in the same year of 2001 at the very tender age of 17. Sharif used to generate a lot of pace and, probably, used to bowl around 138 kph regularly which used to surprise a lot of people because of his short stature. Sharif was a very decent exponent of reverse swing and probably was the first Bangladesh pacer to do so.
He played for Bangladesh in 10 Test matches and 9 ODIs over a career spanning just 7 years. Inevitably, he became victim to typical pace bowling injuries -partly because of the negligence (and, inexperience) on behalf of BCB. Talha Jubair is the other tragedy.
Mohammad Sharif is nothing short (no pun) than a hero. Not many pacers has been able to make such comeback as he has done. It takes great determination, motivation, will power, discipline and hard work. In due process, he has also picked up more than 300 FC wickets (with a very healthy average of 27.18 per piece), perhaps, the most by any Bangladeshi pacer. And, he is still not finished. He is the giant of Bangladeshi pacelore.

Shanto used to produce decent reverse swing and at times was unplayable but his consistency sadly never lasted more than a couple of overs!

Glad that at least one of the old members is acknowledging and appreciating the contribution of a workhorse like Sharif to our cricket.
Like you, I salute him, too.

Beside paying homage to a domestic great this thread was bit of a social experimentation about the mindset of BC members and deshi cricket enthusiasts.
The result is very revealing, indeed.

I remember watching Tapash Baisya bowling against Australia in 2005, he looked quite aggressive and attacked the stumps well. Where do all these players go after being dropped, do they retire from internationals?
