Shamsur called up for Test

The BCB announced the preliminary squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka. Imrul Kayes gets called back on the back of his strong domestic performances and as part of the A team. Shamsur Rahman is uncapped in Test and finds favor with the selectors on recent form. He had recently scored 267 in the domestic first class tournament.

Naeem Islam and Anaul Haque were dropped. The former despite a run of good results still resulted in him coming after Marshall Ayub who will play at 3. The latter has had a string of bad performances.

"Shamsur Rahman and Imrul Kayes have been picked over Naeem Islam and Anamul Haque because their form over the last six months has certainly been a factor," said chief selector Faruque Ahmed. "The team management will decide who among these two will play. We have kept a back-up opener. Our input will be there if the management wants to know why we picked them both."
