Happy with our WC19 but...
Happy with our WC19 performance but it was more of a team result rather than based on individual brilliance which honestly doesn't bode too well for our future since none of the top 5 bowler/batsmen were from the Bangladesh team in the future. Because we need players like Kohli,Smith and Steyn to take our senior team performances to the next level. Just my two cents

Anamul Haque was the highest run scorer in an under 19 world cup in Australia. Where is he now? I think we should look at the potential of this bunch. Even though no individual player topped the chart in either batting or bowling, they clearly have a stronger mental fortitude and a never give up attitude. That's why I am much more optimistic about these kids than the previous bunch.

^Not to mention the fact that Shakib's exceptional personal performance in the last World Cup was not enough, in itself, to ensure that we qualified for the semi finals...

You see a star and you recognize their potential.
Akbar Ali is a star in the making and there is no doubt about this. A tall Wicket keeper batsman. What can we want more? So is Shoriful. Couple of batsmen and bowler Raqibul has the potential to become a star. But they have to work on their craft. 5 years of hard work would make them shine brighter than the current crops.

I believe these current bunch of players are very aware of their future challenges, thus far coming to a final at this level the dedication the hard work needed, they for sure how have realization that how much more efforts and hard work awaiting for them for the next level and the next level. These are the champion players not all of them but half of them will represent our country with more maturity, more caliber, with smart life plans for their career. I see the big difference with these bunch comparing to our earlier best ones even Tamim-Musfique batch. I’m sure they have seen already from the past early generation under19 players how faded away without dedication and discipline. Smart ones from this current batch will be even more careful of their future about discipline and dedication.

U/19 stats can be actually very misleading. In Kohli's team, there was a top order batsman who scored more than Kohli at U/19 level. But now he does not even get selected at State level.
At this stage, what you want to look for are their technical foundation, mental resilience, and work ethics.
If you still think stats matter, here are the stats for last two years-

Stats doesn't tell you the full story. What we found out from this tournament is that our youngsters have a totally different mindset compared to previous bunch. There is a potential future captain that could be birthed in the national team in the near future. We might have a good fast bowler aswell that will play for the national team.

Might have been a team effort rather than standouts but thats what it takes to win at the senior level, of course you need your standouts as well. Plus a lot of the players have done pretty well at u19 level or at least look talented enough to make it to the next level. So we might see a fair few of them in or around the national team over the next 5 years.

^^ My gut feeling is that a good number of them will be drafted in the ODI team well ahead of WC 2023 in India. We can't really go on with our current team for long.

Let me clear a few things. The main reason why none of our boys is in the top 10 Batsmen is:
1) Our first two matches we had to chase 130 and 80 respectively. Doesn't help our cause.
2) 3rd match we had to face Pakistan bowlers in cloudy conditions and in the middle of the rain. And we scored 106/9 in those difficult conditions.
3) Most of the top batsman in the list barring Jaiswal had to play against lesser teams and less pressure matches ONCE they got knocked out. Bangladesh didn't play any playoff match whatsoever because they had eye on the prize. None of the players played for themselves. They played for their team.
Also like many has said before that these guys know what to do and they will do accordingly. They want to play for the team and win the matches.
Oh and as for our bowlers not being in the top 5. Rokibul is 10th. Mind you we didn't get to bowl to Pakistan and a part of our bowling innings against Zimbabwe was washed out.

The one blemish was how we didn't pick the legspinner Rishad Hossain. We continue to neglect wrist spinners. Our inability to play wrist spinners almost cost us in the final.
