Tamim Iqbal - the new captain
https://m.priyo.com/e/1788077-মাশরাফ...কবাল
Tamim has been selected as a new captain!
At the moment I can’t judge but wish him a very good luck!

Rightly so. All the best. He is more mature, values his wickets, humble, takes responsibility and captaincy is not surgery if you are already an international player. I mean it ain't as if we had frikkin Rommel, Einstein, Patton, Napoleon as general be it Shakib/Mushy/Mash.
He will succeed. And he can always pick up the tradecraft as he goes along. And while we are sidetracked by our mammoth partnership record, and Liton's brutal innings, I just like to put the fact out there, Tamim scored a back-to-back hundreds. lol
Nazmul Hassan Papon said it is for long term. And the fact is by default if you make Mushy/Shakib/Tamim or whoever captain it will "put pressure". That doesn't mean the kid wouldn't breath daylight and see the sky again once for all. Dumb...
I mean who exactly does it leave with? Mosaddek? lol...

Seriously! Captain Dot Ball again (don't care what he did against Zimbabwe)!!!
He will hand back captaincy to Shakib soon enough. Unfortunately, Shakib is not a good captain either.
Miraz needs to up his batting and find a permanent place in the ODI team, and stake his claim for captaincy. Otherwise, Akbar Ali needs to get to the ODI team soon.

Tamim Iqbal is not a natural captaincy material, hopefully he will be good though. I saw Papon mention that not everyone agreed to be the captain, so maybe Tamim was not the board's first choice.

Would’ve been a good time to have groomed a new captain but I guess there hasn’t really been any long term performing youngster to do that with so they went with a senior.

Eshen I seriously doubt your understanding of the game if you think Miraz or somehow Akbar Ali or others from Pet Shop Boys is somehow wayyyy more better option than someone who has been playing cricket for 10 years. lol
And why does everyone think Tamim Iqbal is a ditz? These morons are the same ones who probably think if you are a stud like Christopher Pratt you must lack brain cells.
Papon et co. KNOWS what they are doing.

This decision was a no brainer at this point. Good luck to him and hopefully this captaincy stint doesn't affect his batting.

Tamim is a classy batsman, speaks good English. He has matured, looks in good form now (again). So, hoping captaincy will make him even better. With great power comes great responsibilities. Captaincy has benefits, power. Tamim is at a right stage to CAPTAIN, he has become good reader of the match but needs others to go better with the SR, at least he now as a captain can stamp his own ways and BD are perfectly in shape to have it Tamims way with Liton going hard at the other end, there's also Soumya.
It's about a right balance, approach and tactics. Bangladesh need a good balance. Tamim can anchor, others bat hard around him in the top 3. Tamim also can attack. Ideally we need him to bat sensibly long. Rest will come.

I second that. Miraz should not even be in national team. Below AVG bowler, almost starts crying after being hit for a couple of sixes. Batting wise, nothing special. People are going gaga over his u19 captaincy. U19 and nat team are different breed. Tamim is the best choice in absence of sakib.

Tamim was not that successful captain in DPL and BPL. Also wasnt successful in SL series. But hope he gets better as a captain. We do not have anybody else to be honest who could lead. Riad could have been an interesting option though. Already he is our T20 captain. Having 3 different captains for 3 different formats for us is a overkill I think.

Ehhhhhh, Tamim pops under the slightest bit of pressure.
Responsibility of captaincy duties could very well hamper his batting form.

Has to be either Tamim or Mushfiq. Shakib could retire at any moment. Or get banned for actual match fixing.

His captaincy record in internationals, bpl, dpl, ncl has been pretty bad. Dont see much logic behind selecting him unless he really wanted the role and there was absolutely no one else. He understands the game but when it comes to on-field decisions, he doesnt respond to pressure very well.
Dont know why it wasnt Riyad tbh. I know his performance hasn't been noteworthy lately but he is a much better captain then Tamim. Tamim couldn't even lead a Comilla side. My feeling is that Papon bhai bhaira bhaiyer raag jharse.

As long as Tamim can display some
Dynamism of thought in ODIs we will be OK. We are largely on cruise control in ODIs. While
Batting the game plan is simple: Liton/Shakib/Soumya will be responsible for accelerating while Tamim plays the anchor role. Mushy is the accumulator. Riyad and Saifuddin are late hitters. Bowling relies on spinners to bowl tight for 15-25 overs and pacers try to do as much damage the rest of the innings.
The real challenge will be when Shakib and Riyad retire after the 2023 WC. I can see Tamim and Mushy playing till the 2027 WC.
PS. Mosaddek!!

There is no doubt about his knowledge of the game but whether he can absorb the pressure when it would get tough and perform as a batsman will be the main thing to see. We can’t afford to lose the batsman Tamim. I hope he will continue to bat as he has been doing for over the years and this extra responsibilities won’t affect that.
