Default 16 Years On and We Still haven`t Found a Suitable Partner with Tamim

One thing I have, noticed is the constant musical chairs, with our openers, after a long time we still do not have a fixed opening pair, the second opener position changes every 2 years, previously it was Anamul, then Imrul followed by Raqibul and many others.
I`m starting to believe Souyma is the same, along with all the latter. He is struggling to score against a mediocre Afghan side, who are missing Hamid Hassan and Shapoor Zadran. No doubt, he is talented but i still believe it is better to score 50s or 30s consistently rather than a once in a blue moon 100 and 10s for the rest of the year. He had a really poor DPL were he barely scored a hundred against mediocre teams. The problem with, the opener position is that candidates are just too inconsistent or just plain rubbish, the latter being Anamul, who can barely rotate strike and needs serious work on his footwork, if we are to become a strong team, we need to fix our opener issue, and invest in younger players such as mominul or similar style of players, who play defensively and attack when needed.
Several big teams already have a settle opening pair
De Kock/Amla
Warner/Finch or Khawaja
Williamson/Guptil
Dhawan/Rohit
Masakadza/Chibhabha
Charles/Fletcher
Perera/Silva

10 Years on and our opener position is still shifting and we are yet to find a candidate for Tamim.gl

And how many of these openers were given consistent runs? Anamul was dropped for his discipline?

Soumya still has a lot to prove

We need to be patient. Tamim too was mediocre for a long time.

Which is why we need to persist with the others as well. Tamim and Mushy started playing where we had the most mediocre cricketers.

It will be harder for Soumya, Anamul, Liton, Sabbir but I think competition is healthy

Tamim, Imrul Kayes is probably the most stable and successful pair in the history of BD Cricket across formats barring T20

Get your headline correct. Tamim debuted in 2007. By 2008/9 he became star and must have regular in NT. Since then we say 'who will accompany Tamim?'. So it's barely 8 years. (Although it's late 2016, we just started our ODI campaign)

And by the way it's only been few odis where Tamim-Soumya failed to perform. Even last partnership was 46. Not that bad. And the guy who got out was ..Tamim.

16 years ago he was barely 10

How I see it, is that the country just hasn't produced a stable consistent opener, to bat alongside Tamim.

They've all come and gone cos none have been up to scratch.

Tamim is married, correct?

He's happy.

We, somehow, need to get Soumya back to form. Tamim with inform Soumya will end our agony for next five years.

Tamim is a chatgaya champaan wala( majhi/boat driver).
He helps other openers cross the river, the longer they stay on the boat the richer they get.
Iss paar uss paar.

I have a feeling Tamim/Riyad and Tamim/Rahim didn't really happen, but rather his partners were walking wickets most of the time and would be in the dugout by the first two overs hence Rahim/Riyad pretty much were openers with Tamim

Tamim himself wasn't reliable either till after last ODI WC. Was very inconsistent to say the least and went through patches of good form every few years.

This time I think is different and we have a quality and reliable opener in Tamim because his attitude changed. Looks more mature and disciplined, lost a lot of weight, and paces his innings and selects shots better (until he reaches 100...tries to whack every single ball then).

Soumya is the most talented Bangladeshi batsman I've seen alongside Ashraful. Can't write a player off just because he's in bad form. Can't drop a player because he's in bad form either. He's our best option by far. Persist with him, and hopefully, he'll fulfill his potential.
