The captain in Virat Kohli has really messed up a World Cup that should have been a cakewalk for such a bunch of talented cricketers.

Great post.
The problem is BCCI has given too much authority to Virat Kohli - he is almost an autocrat from coach selection to team selection. This was pointed out by Graeme Smith once, and also by an esteemed espncricinfo writer, but Kohli's stubbornness is always accommodated irrespective of results.
I can point to many instances where Indian team lost simply because Kohli was stubborn about including certain players he liked in the playing XI, even though common sense or public opinion dictated otherwise. Example: Exclusion of Rahane in the test series against SA in SA. No selection of spinner in match during test series against England.
BCCI either need to reduce Kohli's power or make Rohit Sharma captain.
