That's the way the BCB has compelled another performer to retire from international cricket. Shame on BCB.

Actually this is a retirement forced by the BCB. He was dropped for no good reason and never got another chance to play. BCB won't take any more chance on him. If they let him to play another match and he performs well (which is most likely), BCB will face more criticism in their efforts of destroying Bangladesh cricket.

This is the end of the era... Mashud takes with him what made Bangladesh cricket. His defining over boundary in 1997, his keeping against Pakistan in the worldcup, his heroics during the toughest time of Bangladesh Cricket,,when his team would fall left and right and becoming the wall.. aI is a sad way ending his career. he should've just screw his own Rajshahi academy and BCB and joined the ICL. Atleast, they would honor him better than what the morons of BCB has showed. He didnt because he wanted to serve his country..I am equally saddened by the fact that his peer Akram Khan was also ineffective in being bold in selection to select him for the last time on his own merit.
If you think of one wicketkeeper in Bangladesh,, it will be no other than Khaled Mashud Pilot. There is NONE near his knowledge, skills and passion for wicketkeeping. He was a wicketkeeper since his schoold days and he will be known for the Master wicketkeeper Bangladesh ever producted. Heck,, even greats like Wasim Akram testified that fact. Shame that Chameli, GaLi that they could never never could get past their egoes... Shame on Bangladesh that it failed again to honor another hero.

What servant was he for Bangladesh Cricket. He is still the best keeper to-date for BD and one of the elite one in world cricket.
He was always the last resistance in our inconsistent batting line up. He will be dearly missed and I wish him a successful run in his next adventure.
Thanks Khaled Masud

I think he had no other options left except just retire because BCB is'nt taking him anymore for his batting skills and his age.

Fitting farewell awaits Mashud
Sports Reporter
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) operations committee chairman Gazi Ashraf Hossain called the career of Khaled Mashud 'a remarkable achievement'.
Mashud met Ashraf yesterday morning at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium headquarters in Mirpur and informed BCB of his retirement in a letter that was accepted by the board.
"His dedication will become symbolic for future generations. His achievements were outstanding," said the former national captain.
Ashraf quashed reports that Mashud was not in any negotiations with BCB for a possible last game for the Tigers.
"He met me and clearly told me that he wanted no favours from us. As a captain he would have demanded the best team for Bangladesh and he still does," said Ashraf.
Ashraf also informed that efforts are underway to give him a fitting farewell.
"We are thinking of giving him an appropriate farewell, most probably during the upcoming New Zealand series," said Ashraf.
The board will also hold a press conference for Mashud at the Mirpur venue today.

A solute to Pilot. Without his SIX!!! is ICC tournament Bangladesh cricket might not have been where it is today. He has served the team for a long time.

Yes,, a fitting farewell.. a crest, some clapping, a "shonod-potro", sponsor speaks... What we wanted, what Bangladesh Cricket needed, what world cricket needed and he rightfully deserved was one last time to see the end of an era; a chapter closing of a history.. yes, he couldve been like Inzamam or Lara with a insignificant and un-romantic good bye from the field.. but it wouldve been the right tribute to the ex-captian, to the ex-player who, along with Bashar, Shujon, Rafique shaped this team of today..
Wishful thinking..

Here is the top 15 by runs scored during last years NCL 4 day league. He surely deserved a call up to at least the preliminary team.

He has always been a stalwart for Bangladesh on the field. This is what I had said of him after our St Lucia Test ( First Test Verdict: Coming of Age (2004) )
| Mashud celebrating his maiden ton | | | Khaled Mashud does not get as many plaudits as he deserves. So often he has been the stalwart of the team, single-handedly bringing a semblance of order to an innings in disarray. It is not without reason that he holds so many Test partnership records for Bangladesh. When Bangladesh eventually declared at 271 for 9, Mashud remained unbeaten on 103, his first Test century, in a marathon 334 minute session facing 281 balls. Along the way he faced some very hostile bowling by Pedro Collins, not withstanding Lara's "placid pitch", and had to receive treatment for some serious blows to the gloves and forearms.
