I think the next generation of Bangladesh players are going to be a class apart. Imagine our current U-23 side:

Liton
Saif/Pinak
Shanto
Miraz
Mosaddek
Arif
Zakir hasan
Saifuddin
Fizz
Taskin
Sanjit Saha

Very strong side and can beat WI, Zim , Ireland. Only issue would be lack of muscle which is why I feel that BCB should focus on power-training. Players need to incorporate explosive workouts in their fitness regime as well as put emphasis on high protein diet.

These days cricketers are really beefed up.

Clearly you haven't heard the vast majority of the US-born Bangladeshis.

I assure it can get worse than the Banglish we hear from Maria Nur.

Only the guys who have already played on the national team are proven. Everyone else is unproven.

Wow this kid certainly is an exciting talent. Just scored a quick fire 17 down the order striking at 242.85 to take his team to a better total, match before that he scored a nice 94 batting from number 6 striking at 88 when the team needed someone to score big. Earlier this season he also got a 76* batting from 6 striking at 95 which again was when the team was in a bit of trouble and needed someone to make an innings.

Congrats Afif on his maiden T20 fifty! He scored more runs today than his previous 5 T20 innings together.

Mahela is doing a wonderful job with our local players. I hope Sujon is humble enough to learn something from him (though it's highly unlikely).

lets he far far he can take his talent.... time is in his side.

One of the best performances of the under-19 world cup so...

It was the second five wicket haul in the tournament

Like any other predecessors, the inability to nurture raw talent in our system he will play with national jersey, perform here and there some magic for couple of years and eventually will fade away.

Hope not.

I do it, even though I am not a personality.

I called it Hybrid-Bangla.

Was it the right decision to ditch Afif after a game?

Or he should have been in Sri Lanka?

We ve been grooming Shakib/Tamim from a very young age, and gave them a long stretch of matches.

Thats a Shakib quality.

But we need to see whether he is a batsman who can bowl a bit, or he can do both well like his idol.

Honestly we need an understudy for Shakib, and we ve missed a trick by not trying him out in SL.

Don't know what Hasina told him, but the boy is not doing well after that phone call. Already got too full of himself?

His problem always has been the inconsistency, the guy is very consistent in inconsistency as the problem of our majority batsman.

I hope Afif doesn't become a one hit wonder. Have high hopes. Good that he has contributed with both bat and ball. But consistency is key-only way he can become like his idol Shakib. Should have capitalized on the opportunities in Sri Lanka.

You guys expect a young talent of 18 yrs old will come with a boom and continue to perform without any struggle on the way? is this realistic expectation?

Yes he will struggle once in a while and yes he has shown he has enough talent and yes there is no guarantee that he will be the next superstar in our national team. And yes to be the core player in the national team, eventually he need to be consistent.

But for now..... its not end of the world for him yet. He is still young and talented.... lets wait and observe he learn and grow.
