DPL players' draft today
Quote:
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Imrul Kayes, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Nasir Hossain, Liton Das, Anamul Haque and Rubel Hossain are the twelve icon players.

The icon players' draft will be held first, followed by the A plus, A, B, B plus, C plus, and C player categories.

Taskin Ahmed, who was dropped from the national team for the ongoing tri-series, is yet to be selected by any of the clubs but is expected to be called in the draft today. Each team will be allowed to include one foreign recruit in the playing eleven.

Wish Soumya had a chance to work with Salahuddin in DPL. But, apparently, Salahuddin is not interested in working with mentally weak players. So, instead, he will work with ex-Barisal cricketer Shahin Hossain at Agrani Bank.

To add a twist, CCDM will allow clubs to exchange players between them. This will allow Abahani to take a player from their Beximco sister club Shinepukur. So, most likely Mash is going to Abahani this year.

List of Icon Players:

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (ShinePukur Cricket Club)
Shakib Al Hasan (Mohameddan Sporting Club)
Mushfiqur Rahim (Legends of Rupganj)
Tamim Iqbal (Kalabagan Krira Chakra)
Mahmudullah (Prime Bank Cricket Club)
Imrul Kayes (Gazi Group Cricketers)
Mustafizur Rahman (Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club)
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Abahani Limited)
Nasir Hossain (Abahani Limited)
Liton Kumar Das (Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club)
Anamul Haque Bijoy (Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samiti)
Rubel Hossain (Prime Bank Cricket Club)

Before the start of the league, each team will be allowed to release one player and take two players from other teams. Thus Abahani may take Mash from their Beximco sister team Shinepukur.

How comes two teams owned by Beximco playing in the same league?

Shinepukur was playing in the first division and has been promoted now. Funny thing is that Chacha was coaching both teams last year. Now he has the triple headache of coaching the national team as well as two premier division clubs

This is terrible. Surely some rules must be introduced to stop this kind of things? The fact that two teams with same owners playing in the same league is even being allowed to happen is embarrassing.

Beximco almost own BCB too, with Papon, Sujon, and few other BCB directors being their employees.

Talha Jubair will coach Abahani in absence of Chacha. Sarwar Imran, Pilot, and Salahuddin staying with Dhanmondi, Prime Bank, and Gazi Group respectively.

Beximco is not the first to enjoy the benefit of owning two premier league clubs though. Few years ago, Lutfar Rahman Badal used to own both Rupganj and Victoria (while Victoria was still playing in the premier division). However, he was very vocal against advantages Abahani was getting from scheduling and corrupt umpiring. I guess he kinda crossed the line by calling Sujon names. BCB then banned him from any association with DPL.

What about Hasan Mahmud...if Onik gets a team Mahmud should walk into a few. Abahani is very weak in the pace dept.

Taskin didn't even get a side...how the mighty have fallen!

Tamim had almost paid for his BPL rebellions. Nobody took him on the first draft, then Kalabagan took him on the second go.

I feel bad for Taskin and other Abahani pacers though - just imagine Talha Jubair trying to teach them how to maintain good line & length

Abahani have some serious pace attack.

Taskin (140kph+), Hossain Ali (135-140 Kph) and Hasan Mahmud (134-138kph).

Probably the best pace line-up.

Hossain Ali and Mahmud very young, genuine prospect for future, eager to see how they perform.

BTW, I was just joking. My respect to both Talha Jubair and Tapash Baisya for taking up coaching roles. Hopefully both will enrich our next generation of pacers.
