Question Lack of Hard Hitters?

I think in the Bangladesh squad, there are not that many hard hitters. I can only remember Tamim (still str is 70), Mashrafe (inconsistent) and newly added SHakib.

I think this is a reason for which we may not be able to score good deal of runs in the ODIs. So, I think we need players like Jayasurya or Gilchrist in our team

We need players who can stay at the wicket, build innings and play for the long time in the crease. Players who will hit few 6 and 4, eventually get out after entertaining the crowd, are not required.

Players like Gilchrist and Jayasuriya can't be found by calling. They are born cricketers and they are Legends because they played lots of big innings with their aggressive approach. I would be happy if the current/future batsmen able to stay in the crease for long time with decent strike-rate and play according to the match situation.

We actually need soft hitters, who can just push and run for singles regularly.

For Ashraful, I can only use the word "was". After the 3 off 31, I don't like to call him aggressive. I went to the stadium and I heard the following phrase evrywhere "Ashraful bhua"

we don't need hard hitters we need some sensible cricketers who can play according to the situation. If someone can play controlled shot with elegance they can easily hit the ball boundaries with accuracy and can take the game away. In our team we have few players who can play big shots but they are not accurate with shots which most of the time cause their wickets. This will take sometime that they will appear hard hitters in our eyes in coming days. Player like Aftab can hit but he hits one then next ball gone, we don't need those kind of players. You see even Mushy can hit quite cleanly SIXES, last time the leg flicked SIX which was awesome SIX, its looked so easy but acctually he made it looks easy. Any of those players(Ash, Mushy, Shakib, Naeem, Razzak, Mahsrafee, Tamim) can hit SIXes but need pure technique and practices to time it properly and properly dispatch. In case of Jaya and Gili they have been playing quite lots cricket in thier domestic form and international form before got recognised as hard hitters with solid tecnique, they are not those faltu hitters like Afridi or Aftab. So, we don't need faltu hitters rather stay with these bunch of players who have plenty of solid tecnique and can perform in any situation.

nice 1.i agree all the points that u made.......
e.g.look at afridi...best hitter of the ball ever but look at his performance last 3 years.i dont see he made any 50 in last 50 matches......u need more technique in cricket than power...without technique ur just a piece of s*

mithun ali had a terrific start to the domestic one-day season this year, at one stage he was averaging over 50 with a 110+ strike rate. i think he's been batting at one down so he could potentially be a future 1st drop or opener in the shorter formats of the game.

even hard hitting requires sum brains..our definition of hard hitting has always been launch it straight up in the air...aftab used to do a very good example of that alot...

we dont need sloggers
if tamim or ash or naeem or even razzak when he gets back can play accordingly, they can be hard hitters
