theres no point glorying on past performences like england in football 1966..
look to the future not past! this guy is a fluke drop him and make razzq the captain and keep mash the vice.
razzaq is the oldest in squad so they will listen to him..logicaly its the best way to go ..
give that loser a break since you guys like him soo much that you willing to sacrifice BD cricket ..then if he proves his worth in consective good performences not just one, then think about it!
its time the players take responsiblities. this backward thinking mind won't get us far.
This is cricket players are judged by their performence not who we like watching!
Mate you're out of your freaking mind. No one here in their right minds are defending Ashraful. He's consistently a stuff up. But it's not like anyone else in the team isn't a stuff up. And make Razzak captain? He doesn't even make it into the test team. In the last two tours, if you remember correctly, against New Zealand he scored that unbeaten 60 in that match-winning partnership with Junaid. If he wasn't there, I can guarantee you we would've fallen short. Against South Africa in the first ODI, he again showed that he's miles ahead of anyone in our team in terms of batting.

Another reason why he should stay is because he can shield the other players. We've pretty much managed to screw up his career by making him captain. We don't want to put any other inexperienced players in a pressure situation. Just because Razzak is the oldest in the team does in no way mean he should be captain. Your logic is flawed.

Get some common sense into you're head - without this guy's fluky performances, Bangladesh would have been long gone in test cricket. There is no future without a present. Once the younger players have learnt to cope with international cricket, some one can take Ashraful's place if need be. Until then, he's here to stay.

We're only discussing options here, no need to get serious I've noted down:

- Sakib too young
- Mash half fit
- Razzaq may not make it in the test 11 - any reason?

Who else - Zunaed, Mehrab, Naeem...

FAISAL FOR CAPTAIN

Highest averages
National Cricket League, 2008/09
PlayerMatInnsNORunsHSAveBFSR1005004s6s
Sajidul Islam5842377559.2542855.37021234
(Barisal Division)
Faisal Hossain813073212956.30127557.413318311
(Chittagong Division)

Faisal was not out in all of his 13 innings. Yet he has the second best average. He has 3/100 and 3/50. That says somthing. He has been around being supposedly 30yrs old. Could be a good captain. Try him out in the final round of NCL.

Default JO should have been given at least one more chance.

Instead, BCB has been ignoring him. BCB does not want first the performance of the team, first thing they want is to keep their job and show their charisma on tv and other electronic media.

We should have a new gang buster CEO soon, who will emphasize on performance and innovation.

I believe its time for Ash to leave capaincy. I believe a captain should be a performer. He should be an example to the other members of the team. Look at all the Captains of other teams. They have one thing in common-PERFORMANCE. Ash was a vital force for most of our winnings. But when it is a rainy day how many times has he helped us to avoided defeat ? Rather he gave away his wickets to opponents cheaply. What impact this has on the other members? They think if the capatain is not peforming then I can get away with it. They don't feel commited. If you are performing capatain then you can question poor performance of others. If you as a captain dont perform then you will certainly lack the confidence to challenge others. This is very simple logic.

Now who will be the next one. I guess it is the Vice Captain of the team. He is the logical choice. Mash is still performing in the bowling department. He has the aggressiveness and it seems to me he is a leader. He has lots of experience too. You may disagree but this is the most logical outcome.

It makes me laugh when someone says " if Ashraful's out of the team, Bangladesh are out of the game." I wonder what the other 10 players are doing now!!

i have a serious prediction for mohammad ashraful...>!
this series and the series after(i mean WI) are the last strings of chances left for him/.
if his bat fails to get runs in the 'test' matches and i don't mean like from four innings/each series
(0, 93, 3, 1)! it has to be something more like (43, 87, 78, 63) - he will be gone to history books - we will cherish him and always love him for what he was! but i have this strong psychic/clairvoyant kind of feeling that if ash stumbles in these two series the show will be over for him!
i pray for you ahsraful the magnificant chagol.

Well said ZIA, he has given enough chances to prove himself as a worthy leader.. We all should know by now that he is not a captain material.. why is it so difficult to accept this? Just get over it.. there are thousands of Ash roaming in Dhaka streets, you rather spend money on those starving children at least they won’t disappoint you..

Who will be an outright capable leader? None. On the job training is needed for all of the names uttered here. Then why to abandon someone who isalready on OJT and can only improve with time. Captaincy can't be learnt in a few months. It's almost a lifetime learning curve, specially for BD players who hardly has scope of learning at the domestic level. Moreover he isn't out of age as HB was to some extent. Ash has a long way to go, let him learn & mature with time.

we definitely need an experienced captain but unfortunately I see none in the box. So Ashraful has to stay as a captain for a while maybe.
