Another SLA... not excited!

Only excited about one member in the squad... Akbar Ali... Think he can be a smasher we need later down the order... We have a lot of opening batsmen in our squad and outside... There is tamim, naim, soumya, liton and now afif.... we need lower middle order batsman and I have been following this guy every since I saw highlights of the New Zealand tour... some of his shots were just amazing, one of the best hand speeds I have seen from Bangladesh... He may not have the stats to show this yet but I think he is going to be the hitter we have been looking for...

The whole team is playing well though, we can win this cup with this team easily if they focus!

We can make the final easily. We are, on our day, the 2nd best side in the world. Just like in 2006.

But beating India in the final, will be immensely difficult. We don't have a history of beating India in ICC events (2007 WC is the only time), if we are chasing 100, we choke. If we are defending 300, we choke. We have a mental block. Then you have the fact that 90% of umpiring decisions will go against us.

Can we beat India? Yes. But the chances are 10% at best. This team has done well to get to the semis away from home. If they beat NZ, which they should, thats all I can ask of them.

Raqibul is not just another SLA. He is no ordinary SLA like many others before him. I was impressed by his level of intelligence and variations he showed in his bowling craft. He is worth a try, no harm trying him at the national level. He is not a seamer, so young age + injury + early burnout shouldn't be as big of a factor for young seamers.

Saw the highlights on youtube. Raqibul got some chinaman action going with his bowling. Very deceptive

This is the most talented, dynamic pack u-19 team we ever had. All of those guys from a-z knows how to perform with brain. The openers were smart with their moves, shot selections were absolutely spot on. These guys play shot with the merit of the shots not blinders. Tanzim played the best part of the innings, Shahadat in middle played terrific innings with some glorious lofted cover drive shots. Hridoy played anchor short innings but very effective one. Bowlers were discipline with the line and length, shoriful was unlucky not having more wickets under his name. Rakib was the best with his accuracy and smart outfoxing deliveries. Overall this team has potential to with the wc title.

Pace department is weak. Other spinners contained SA but not so effective. Such bowling may not work against India. Only hope we get a batting wicket and then out bat them.

A glimpse at the players of Afg and Pak tells me ICC needs to establish stringent measures on age control!

Rakib is a very gifted SLA. He looks to be simaltaneously attacking and at the same time economincal. Even Shakib is not a very threatening looking SLA. Rakib looks like he can take a wicket with every ball. Got a bit of turn to which means on a really turning track he could be lethal.

Shakib is more of a container, which works in T20s beautifully. but in ODI's as we seen in the world cup, on pitches that offer no assistance for spinners, Shakib wasn't as effective as you would like him to be. Rakib reminds me a bit of Mohammad Rafique(Whom I still think is a better SLA than Shakib)

Rafique had a very unique quick arm action (he used to be a pacer beginning of his club career). Rakib reminds me more of Enamul Jr.

He does have the flight variation and arm-ball that make Shakib so deadly. But at time, he seems to get better turn than Shakib.

It boggles my mind that we keep consistently performing in the U19 wc but when they transition to the national team, flops majority of the time or fades away. We actually have a good chance on playing india in the final this time around.

Raqibul and tamim will be the future star for bd and shoriful..
Bd needs wicket ... we have to cut them under 200 because of pressure game
