Very Trumpesque. Start a fire and call the firefighter to be a hero.

My goodness!

If Shakib is banned for 2 years merely for not reporting suspicious text msg, then it's ridiculous. This would not happen to IND/AUS/ENG players.

So, ICC monitors all int'l players' cell phone, online activity? How they knew about this if Shakib never reported? AGain, if ICC can monitor these things, why don't they go directly after the bookies? Feels like a trap...

Right, the known match fixer getting his number was just a coincidence. Shakib arranging to meet in person with the known match fixer after getting asked if he would fix was just a coincidence as well. The known match fixer asking for Shakibs bank details was also a coincidence. Shakib also deleted numerous messages from the known match fixer for no reason as well. He also didn't report it to the ACU despite having numerous lessons from the ACU telling them they must do this for no reason at all.

What can the ICC do about the bookies? The corrupt players like Shakib are the only ones under their control.

No one gives a rat's hoot about this two. Something tells me you are gleeing in schadenfreude cuz 'the arrogant' Shakib has finally been greftaared.

One should always be wary before bringing morality into anything and take a hard look at himself. BC has been more than forgiving to you and your alias. Let's just keep that in mind. And in perspective.

Couple things to note.

1)Its very obvious higher ups in the BCB leaked this. No coincidence he heads up a players strike then this comes out. Otherwise it could be linked to the matchfixing that ravaged the UAE/HK squads lately.

2) Shakib is an idiot. There is absolutely zero excuse to not report these corrupt approaches. Absolutely zero. Absolute stupidity and he can have no complaints.

3) T20 franchise leagues are rancid and if anyone thinks Indian/English etc cricketers at a high level arent involved in this they are naive. If anything the timing of this indicates boards probably know of cases like this but do nothing lest they lose a valuable player. Shakib became an inconvenience and hey presto match fixing turns up

Right, despite the ICC investigating him all year before he headed up the strike.

Very sad, very sad. IMO BCB is responsible for it all.
What can Shakib do now ? Retire? If he does, can he immediately continue playing in his T20 leagues ?

Ramiz Raja is a classic BD hater.

But Donal is right. Shakib has only himself to blame. Even if there is a conspiracy, he failed to defend himself against it.

Silver lining is we can groom a young player in his stead (Mosaddek, Saif, et al).

Is this sarcasm, why didn't Shakib choose to report it? He had many opportunities but chose not too.

Just saw the news. Hard to digest it honestly. Why in the world would he even message him back and ask to meet in person.

Bitterly disappointed. I would have been much less disappointed it was any other Bangladesh player.

What the heck was he thinking?

How ICC manage to get hold of his WhatsApp account?
If this happened 2 years ago why ban him now?
