Bangladeshi players - This is the biggest game of your career
One week to go for this, till now in all the matches we played so far be it t20s or ODIs or Tests, this match vs India on the 2nd of July is the biggest game of each and every Bangladeshi cricketer's career.
This is a virtual knock out, a do or die match against a top team that is at their best. How we play this match will determine a lot about our future.
I want the players to be excited but determined about a win. They need to think positively and not let any negative thoughts come into their minds. The whole team management needs to plan meticulously on how to beat India. They need to eat, drink and sleep about beating India till 2nd of July.
All their cricketing skills will be tested and on this match lies our Semi Final hopes, can we do it?

Lets start with the obvious. Bat first or bowl should we win?
If Riyad unavailable, who will be our replacement?

Bat first and score somewhere around 330. Bowl with discipline and hold on to all catches. DO NOT drop Rohit Sharma

Bigger problem - race between Mash and Miraz, who can take less wickets

Edgbaston ground profile
Quote:
The ground has hosted Twenty20 finals day on several occasions, was the scene of Brian Lara's world-record 501 not out, against Durham in 1994, and staged two of the most famous international matches. In 1999, perhaps the greatest ODI in history saw Australia and South Africa tie their World Cup semi-final. Then in 2005, England won the second Ashes Test by two runs to level the series and turn momentum.

Do you play Rubel for his knack of troubling Kohli?
Maybe India rests a few of their players, if they get the job done vs England

We played Pakistan in Champ Trophy and lost. It was practice and doesn't count towards List A. But I don't think 330 is enough, by no means. We HAVE TO target 350. Something tells me it will be Tamim's day. He is itching....

Might not be high scoring depending on the track used. SA and NZ played a low scoring thriller here. We will have the benefit of watching Pak vs NZ on this track to assess what sort of total is good. If it turns out to be a belter than its advantage India. We need some help from the pitch for our weak bowling attack

I was thinking the same if not for psychological fear alone. But can he handle pressure and not spray short and wide?
Over the years ground has fared to a mixed bag of both seamers and spinners.

You are right. 330 should be a good total. At first glance I saw 408 and my head exploded. lol

Here is the overall breakdown of the ground; can't seem to figure out the par score for this ground //comment regardless of pitch, the overall size of the ground can be assessed just from stats...

What we cannot afford to do is have these dudhvaat powerplay starts with Mashrafi bowling. We allowed Afghanistan to comfotably get to 50 and better teams would have capitalized from that start. We need wickets up front and Mash should not waste the new ball. Start with Fizz and Saifuddin and hopefully Fizz can get Rohit early.

We have a week, our boys need to seriously analyze India's bowling attack such as Bumrah, Shami, Kumar, Chahal and Kuldeep.
Believe it or not, I think their bowling line-up is more dangerous than their batting line-up. Their batting is mainly Kohli and Rohit

Jadukor what's your solution for the Mashrafe conundrum? Also I would be very interested in forum's verdict as to the result card of Tamim so far? I know we did amazing today, we still should evaluate Tamim's overall performance in World Cup. I think he gets a C from me. LOL!

Mashrafi's body is failing him. That is the sad truth. If we were out of the competition i don't think he would have played. This is what we have bargained for before the tournament. A half fit but inspirational leader of men. Losing him at this stage is not an option. His best chance of being effective is with the new ball but unfortunately he hasn't been successful at all. Therefore i would ask him to bowl first change between 10-35 overs in two 5 over spells. Against Rohit our best chance is before he gets set and so we need to try our best bowlers Shakib, Fizz and Saifuddin.

With regards to Tamim, he needs to find an extra gear if we are to be competitive against the top 4 teams. At the moment if Tamim scores a 50 we wont get to 330-350 score because he would have consumed far too many dot balls

If I were Mash I would practice on my pinch hitting, I think he's also aware his bowling won't be effective.

The juggernaut that is Indian batting is reliant on Rohit and Kohli at the top order. Thank god we don't have Dhawan to worry about! While Kohli is the best batsman in the world, i am more afraid of Rohit. Because Rohit in beast mode is like Warner or Gayle or Jason Roy. He won't stop until he gets a 150 and completely bat us out of the game. Against WI we did everything right, we got Gayle early and then we also got Russel at the death before he could cause damage. We have to some how try to win these key moments with respect to Rohit and Pandya. India will still damage us still because they have many match winners but if we can take out Rohit, Pandya and not give wickets to Bumrah i would say we are about even at that point. Easier said than done.

If Riyad doesnt make it, I would play Mithun as he is a good player against spin. But I hope Riyad makes it.
Our bowling needs to be everything they havent been so far. Tall ask
