Default Bangladesh ODI XI in 5 years time.

Lets take a stab at what our team will look like in 5 years time.

Tamim is 30, Shakib is 32, Mushy is 31. There is a chance Shakib will be retired in 5 years time. Mash is definitely retired by then.

Rubel probably wont be in the team by then anymore. Not sure if Sabbir will have enough form.

Perhaps we would have plucked out a young gun by then? Lot of things to think through.

Maybe Anamul Haque makes another comeback into the team? :p

Who will be our skipper?

^ if Miraz gets his sh*t together, he will be the skipper. Homeboy has all the quality to be a great allrounder, yet bats like a baffoon.I can see Tamim/Mushfiq/Mulla all in the team assuming they are still in some sort of form. Shakib might call it a quit and play T20 around the world.

Sharkar might be our main man for opening slot, Liton will be our primary keeper. Yasir and Mosadek would be established middle order batsmen. Instead of playing for the team, Sabbir will be busy beating up his kids at home with his cricket bat. Bowlers wise, who the heck even knows. The way Fizz is bowling, team might kick him out within couple of years. Might get the AMIR treatment - In and out

Not sure if this will happen in next five years, but the team should look something like this post Shakib-Mushfiq-Tamim:

Soumya
Liton+
Shanto/Saif/Naim
Mosaddek
Yasir
Miraz*
Afif
Saifuddin
Taijul/Sunzamul/Hasan Murad
Fizz/Taskin
Rahi/Khaled/Ebadat/Robiul/Shoriful/MJoy

Miraz and Afif prolly will keep Nayeem out of the ODI team, unless he improves significantly with bat or develops enough variations to bench the specialist SLA.

Tamim
Soumya
Yasir
Mushfiq
Mosaddek
Miraz/Afif
Nurul/other WK
Saifuddin
Rishad Ahmed
Fizz
Shoriful

Shakib and Riyad will most likely retire after the 2023 world cup given their ages. Tamim and Mushy have the combination of ability, drive, and fitness to kick on till the 2027 world cup perhaps.

For me it's more like:

1) Mohammad Naim

2) Sarkar/Tamim

3) Yasir Ali

4) Mithun

5) Mossadek

6) Saifuddin

7) Nurul Hasan

8) Miraj

9) Pace/Spin bowler (left arm most likely) depending on condition

10) Mustafizur

11) Abu Jayed

Instead of 5 years, why not try to see Next WC? In 5 years time these veterans most likely will move on. Tamim, Shakib, Riyad. Even Mushfiq.

Now Next WC, all will/should be available barring injuries.

We should target winning the next Asia cup and also T20 WC if possible.

LOL T20 no chance. We're absolutely hapless in that format.

But should definitely look to improve at the very least.

We need go beyond this lame excuse, too many years already passed and BPL maturing up.

Next Asia Cup will be T20 format, last chance for the seniors to show their mettle.

I think we will have a strong side in 5 years. I am guessing that Riad will retire given his age.

I think we will have the following side:

Tamim
Soumya
Litton
Mushy
Afif
Miraz
Sabbir
Saifuddin
Mustafiz
Taijul
Rubel

Yasir Ali, Saif Hassan, Anamul will be around. Not bad times in the upcoming years. Let us hope Miraz matures and I firmly believe Miraz will captain Bangladesh side after 2023. He will be 26 by then and should mature as a batsman too.

There will not be any ODIs in 5 years. True that.
