Extremely distraught to hear this news.
I hope and pray to the Lord that our beloved Abdur Razzak and his injured family members recover fully. May Allah reduce their injury pain and may our Razzak Lalla come back to play with full strength.

What's perhaps saddest about the Rana accident is that there was another cricketer with him who also died. But no one seemed to care about him. He was a domestic cricketer, never made it to the international stage, and therefore BCB and the team didnt mourn him. After beating India, when Bashar and the team walked around the stadium only with a pic of Rana, and no mention of the other life lost. Even I cant recall his name. BCB gave Rana's family the profits from one of the ODI games. I can't help but think the other player's family could have used that money too. They too lost a son and a breadwinner.

It will cost a few hundred billion USD to improve our transportation facilities and make it all safe.

We are a third world country. Little we can do about it right now.

At best we can raise awareness about road safety.

Not really. The bold part is the solution. Most of the accidents happen when a "Ghatok Truck" or a Bus tries to over take another vehicle. If the OWNERS of these trades (Whatever the truck is carrying) and bus owners don't put the salaries with time, 50% of accidents with casualties will be reduced.

Plus it is in our blood not to follow any traffic laws inside the borders. America'i Ashley oi same driver, 3 minute traffic light'a darai thakbey if the light is red. And you know 30 seconds on a traffic light seems like an hour of wait. That is the main problem.

Here is the issue. I have a bit of knowledge about transportation engineering and psychology. Our problem is deep rooted and we can't do much about changing things overnight.

There is no proper traffic police system, speedometers.

People know the rules very well but it's about enforcement.

A lot can be done even if we dont have the millions for infrastructure. Install speed limiters in public transport that can be tracked via gps by transport authority. Better training for drivers. Stringent requirements for issuing license etc. Right now the drivers are incentivised to drive wrecklessly (more trips equal more money). We need to come up with a better mechanism.

Yes! absolutely. not everything is solved through money. for once Bangladesh should have stop signs and different lanes for different oncoming cars from different directions. I feel like that's a place to start

The more trips you make the more money you will receive. That is the name of the game. That is why everyone wants to go faster and get on to the ferry(ies) first to cross the Padha (the Ganges) or try to out maneuver competition. Taking risks at every turn. Risks gets higher by time. All it takes is a one failure.

If a three lane road has 6 lane of vehicles, traffic jam is a must. On top of it, no one wants to follow the rules. It is a mess and getting worse day by day. In the middle of Dhaka city there is the major railroad. every time a train comes or goes a 15 minute wait must be done on the busiest roads. And this railroad is the only rail connection to the other major cities. All day long, 50 if not 100 times there is a train coming or going. Each train average may be 15 - 20 boggies!!!

Under ground rail tracks would be a good solution, and making the existing railroad as a road for slow vehicles (Rickshaws and motor cycles etc.)
