The ICC's new constitution moved a step closer to reality on a dramatic late afternoon in Dubai, as cricket's Full Members exercised their collective will to outvote the BCCI.

The Indian board was the only member to object against a new financial model and was one of the only two countries to vote against the new governance changes. The finance model received a 9-1 vote in favour, while the governance structure was passed by an 8-2 margin.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) towering influence in world cricket came to a screeching halt as the majority voted for a change in Governance and Revenue structures.

BCCI lost the vote on 'governance and constitutional changes' by a 1-9 margin while the revenue model, which was the bigger bone of contention, saw India getting only two votes in their support against eight against. The only country that voted alongside BCCI was Sri Lanka, reported Press Trust of India.

It was learnt that since BCCI rejected the additional $100 million pay-out in revenue, it was once again given the original option of $290 million which is a $280 million cut from the $570 million India had been getting till last year.

"Yes, the votings are over. It was 8-2 in favour of revamped revenue model and 9-1 in favour of constitutional changes," a senior BCCI functionary present in Dubai told PTI on Wednesday.

"The BCCI has voted against both as we had, in principle, maintained that all these changes are completely unacceptable for us. At this point, we can only say that all options are open for us. We would have to go back to our SGM and apprise the members of the situation," he added.

ICC should now give some time to BCCI to settle down their mind and then come back to sanity of sports/world cricket. If they fail to show up or boycott any ICC event, then ICC should put some long term plan governing world crickt w/o BCCI. I think within a year or two BCCI will start to see the reality of losing a face of sports/cricket giant country.

No cricket board should feel as I'd they are bigger than the ICC.

It's decided that BCCI is going to receive US$ 405 million. The rest of the boards except ZC will have a cut down by US$ 4 million from the originally voted model. ZC will receive the same US$ 94 million as originally voted and the associates will get US$ 240 million as opposed to $280 million.

Overall a OK deal but I just can't digest the share of ZC. I think that should be cut in favor of Associates. But yes, now we move on ...
