Saqlain Sajib has really good average and Econ in both first class and list A. Specially in list A, his Econ is below 4, that is really rare.

I've only heard of around half these lads. Is it because I'm losing touch or is this Academy team just less notable than previous ones?

Also, where is Ariful Haque? He's not in the U/19s team either. Surely he hasn't graduated to the A team already?

I've got fullest confidence on Shakil Kashem. He is the perfect man to handle academy affairs. This is a very good move. But I still feel lack of specialist trainers in the team. They should have batting, bowling and fielding coach with the team.

BTW who is this physio? That mustache guy who used to commentary and anchor a sports program at BTV?

Do we really not have specialist coaches at the Academy?

The team is basically formed of following three groups -

2006 U/19 batch: Marshall Ayub, Farhad Hossain, Kazi Kamrul Islam
2008 U/19 batch: Md Mithun, Rony Talukdar, Nadimuddin Mintu, Muktar Ali, Subhashis Roy, Nasir Hossain
Domestic league products: Shuvagoto Hom, Saqlain Sajib, Shafiul Islam, Robiul Islam

No idea from where Tanbir Hayder Khan came from.

well i've heard of most of these guys, there are only 4 that i haven't heard of, most are notables in the domestic comps or previous academy players.

as for ariful haque, did he play DPL last season? i think he played some matches in one of the domestic comps last season but other than that i haven't heard much of him in the last couple of years (hasn't been in u19 teams or academy teams very much if at all in the last couple of years).

so we have 4 different teams right now : national team, A team, Academy team, and U19. It is very good idea, as before we have seen the same players in different teams.

Having these teams during off season will keep players match fit.

BD should have an U23 National competition like Sri Lanka, they have a tournament on now and it was brainchild by Ranatunga who thinks that this is the way to spot and nurture young talent for the National team.

80% of our national team players would qualify for a U23 Competition LOL

Default Standard Bank Academy to undergo final exam

The Standard Bank National Academy will be looking to impress in their final assessment when they take on the visiting Bangladesh Academy in the first four-day match of the series on Friday. The teams will play two four-day matches, three 50-over matches and two Pro20 matches over the next month.

The question is not what's wrong with Mohammad Shahzada rather what's wrong with the selectors. I have asked this question myself many times for many years. I suppose I will never know the answer. Now he is fading away... However I have come to understand strongly that the BCB and the selectors are all political bodies. They work for their own interests. They always have their lame excuses and answers as to why someone is selected and some other is not. One of our current selector right before joining the selection committee, expressed himself stating that it was a thanksless job. Well, yes it is, if you do thankless work.

He is considering our players from 2008 U/19 WC as experienced!

This article mentions that South Africa have an "Emerging players" team/tour. I like this idea.

We should have something similar for Under 19 players who are no longer under 19, are talented but have had limited first class opportunities. And other players who have emerged through the domestic competition without getting any international recognition so far.

I know we have an A team and an cademy, but there's no harm in having an emerging players squad to face other emerging players across the world and/or maybe tour associate countries...
