his is the problem of our players simple COMMON SENSE. Taking single in last ball and expose tailenders to early morning against reverse swing was dumbest thing ever. Iam afraid Shabbir has to take the blame nevertheless he played a good innings. There is a thin line between this type of win and lost and shabbir messed this again like his colleagues in the past. Sorry to say this is the end story of bd cricket.

I'm sure they didn't leave it all up to the new kid to plan this chase. The captain and coach decided to stick with what worked yesterday. But I said yesterday, plan should be to have face Sabbir majority of the balls early on.

Well played BD. This performance is much better than those JAMODI wins because I rate 5 day cricket very highly. Suddenly the test match against Ind in Feb is looking interesting.

Sabbir should have used little bit common sense there, but what if he was afraid of stokes bouncers, we never know, probably he was just trying to avoid that, also probably had full confidence on Taijul bating. Even our mushy couldn't negotiate with stokes reverse swing, then poor Taijul what can he do ?

well, after all blame will go to Sabbir because he was a stablish batsman who's job was to protect wickets and score runs, and failed to do both. But I personally don't blame him cause in every over he had to give the strike to other batsman and knowing stokes and broad accuracy bowling there was not much hope with later two wickets, if you think realistically.

But end of the day all is good for us, we can take lots of positive for next test.

Guys, last thing we do is criticize our players for such a close game. Yes, there were some mistakes in the middle, like Shakib's brain freeze, introducing Kamrul by Mushi etc., but at the end they made up their mistakes, and brought the game such close. Shabbir might got instructed to keep on rotating the strike till the target comes down to 10-15, and then take the chance. So no need to criticize him either.

It was a wanderful test match we have witnessed, but too bad we are on losing side, so lets take it as what we deserve, lets praise our players for their heart out fight and as well as England, and lets look forward to the second test with good contest again.

Well we could not change the past..only we could change was present... Shabbir's tactics from yesterday was unbelievable and specially taking single in last ball today n exposed tail enders was nothing but stupidity. Im afraid he has to take the blame as he had wonderful opportunity to make the difference.

Disagree. Tamim, Imrul, Mullah, Mush, Shakib, Shafiul has been around for days. They deserved to be treated as adults. No one should blame Sabbir or Miraz or Mini and no one is.

Tamim = Cook
Imrul > Whoever they have
Mini =< Root
Shakib >> Stokes
Mushy =< Bairstow

We have the upper hand in terms of experience. But Stokes put Shak to shame.

But really this is the first time I ever had enjoyed a test match what a fantastic test match it was. Our boys really fought well despite lost but they really show that we are on the right direction.

Once again, stop blaming Sabbir for that. I highly doubt a debutant came up with that plan. It was the captain's and coach's call.

I figured the break would help Bangladesh, by having the coach/sr. players put some knowledge into the debutant on how he should go about this, after he made some clear blunders yesterday. They obv. thought they should play like yesterday, which played right into England's plan.

Um thanks, but I'm sure you were rating those jamodis when Sachin was blasting his 18,000 + runs.

One thing for sure, prepare this kind of India-like pitch and that's Bangladesh's best bet at winning a Test match. And they should go for it ...

Well, England > Bangladesh in terms of ... should I say everything?, cricket culture for instance, meaning our lot are the highest achived in our short history, at the same time still in the learning process, future lots will do much better going through these learning process. The gaps between England and Bangladesh cricket/games may look so small but yet these are infact massive to achive collectively, till then we will fail again and again. This is the reason I say there is no point criticizing our players since they tried their best, and as a cricket nation we are in the learning process.

Yes he brought Kamrul on and it released some pressure but then again he's vilified for not having faith in his pacers. He took a punt on a guy Walsh and Aaqib were high on. Kamrul being a doofus is Kamrul's fault. Kamrul being selected is selectors' and Hathrui's fault.
I thought his captaincy in the second innings was quite good. It's not his fault that for England's Stokes, Broad and Woakes, we come up with Shafiul and Kamrul. It's not his fault that our freakin tail-enders can't bat to save their lives. His batting in both innings was a class act. Appreciate the guy for ONCE!
totally agree.

What are the odds of India delaying the series again? We know how hospitable Indians are to its neighbors

Shakib needs to bat at 6-7, that guy can barely bat and when he does he gets out and a collapse follows shortely after. He is a world class bowler, but soon i bet you stokes will overshadow him

Agreed.Picking Shafiul in the team was the worst decision. I hope his career in the main squad is finished. At his pace he still lacks control over line and length. I'm not in favour of bringing players who have been tried and tested in the past. It was even more ridiculous when Al Amin is fit.

Rabbi was new and his included as a gamble, but Shafiul was pathetic

Before the 4th innings started I mentioned not to depend on tail. If any hope we had we had it on the top and middle batting their heart out. That request did not include Shabbir as he was a debutante. So, he earning a half-century and dragging it to next day was a bonus. If we were supposed to win it was on the hand of the skipper and Shakib. Batting or chasing stops there. This should be the thought process for ODI and Test.

Now T20I is always a lottery so not much to mention about it here.

I suppose you are wiser than Hathuri, Walsh and the rest of the Bangladesh think tank?

There remained some questions about how the game panned out, particularly Sabbir giving Taijul Islam the strike on the final day. Mushfiqur said that it was the management's decision to take the singles, which would take the pressure off Sabbir from doing all the scoring. He lamented that Bangladesh were not equipped with tailenders capable of holding their own, unlike the England side, which boasted 11 batsmen with at least one first-class century.

"Sabbir wouldn't have been able to do all the scoring and it wasn't that Taijul was really bad," Mushfiqur said. "If it was the last wicket, it would have been different. They had pace from both ends, understandably, so Sabbir couldn't have taken too much risk. Taijul started well today so we took the decision that they should take a single when it is available.

When the opposition lets you score a single... you should already know it might not be the right decision. We have seen countless times from Laxman to Duminy to Inzi on how to bat with the tail. Shabbir did not have to take any risks.. we had 90 overs to play.. all he needed to do was to take single off the 3rd or 4th ball in the over exposing Taijul as little as possible. When established batsman struggled the entire test match to survive it is absolute lunacy to think that Taijul would be able to. He was out even yesterday if not for the dropped catch. Batting with the tail is not rocket science and we know how it has been done before. Better to call an idiotic decision when you see one instead of putting the coach on a pedestal

@Raz, Welp thanks for confirming what I've been having to repeat over and over and over again. No Sabbir's plan. Sabbir probably had no say in this.

Of course Mushy, of course! This is a verbal version of your shot selection from Wt20. SMH, Sabbir's no muck with the bat! He can score 30 runs! May be he wouldn't have to score 30 runs, with help from Taj, but that doesn't mean you EXPOSE Taj. "Sabbir can't score all the runs. Hmmm so may be Taj, a lesser batsman, should face more balls, if our real batsman can't score the runs." Yup. Makes so much sense! Taj needed to play a helping, not a 50-50 role, which ended up being 95% role, Sabbir didn't even get to bat.
