Default The Abu Jayed Rahi Thread

This guy is a beast. I genuinely believe he has what it takes to take Bangladesh to new greater heights with his bowling.

He used to bowl alongside Taskin in U-19...

http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-unde...ch/554542.html.

Ya Allah, please make it happen. i feel that Bangladesh is losing out by excluding him from national setup.

It's difficult as is for seamers to take 5 wicket hauls consistently on unforgiving tracks in Bangladesh. I personally would take him across formats. bowled really well last BPL.

Got a few good fast bowlers coming through which is nice. This guys for the most part has performed pretty well, excited to see how he goes against India A.

He seems to be the missing link in our bowling, going by all the posts regarding him that he can swing the ball.

He is not express pace. He got a nice recommendation from Aqib Javed. The other three are: Abul Hasan, Ebadat Hossain and I think the third guy is Abu Hider Rony If i am not mistaken

He can bowl quicker. He collapses his front leg when bowling.

Looks 5'11 without shoes, and with shoes least 6'1. As you know most these trainers give least and inch or two in uplift.

Am not sold on him as a short format player, not seen his stats so am going from what I've seen, his line and length is not great for short formats, but he might be a better option than rabbi and maybe roy in tests

His stats suggest he suits the longer format. I've not seen him bowl but what impresses me is the fact that he has played 50 First Class matches at the age of 23. This is the same amount of games as Roy who is 5 years older. Hopefully this means he is not injury prone and capable of bowling long spells, which is a very important attribute to be a successful bowler in Tests. Look at what has has happened to Mohammad Shahid and Robiul Islam, both who looked to have potential but seemingly also fitness issues.
Hopefully the selectors and team management don't pick him for limited over games instead of Tests, which they've been guilty of many times in the past and present.

I genuinely think he has the "X factor" in him. Tests are definitely a good start. I am also ok with Gradual introduction to shorter formats as well.

So it was Abu Jayed who played this match not Taskin. Average bowling in this match to be honest.

He's better with the old ball. He swings it. Even got some to reverse. He got the slow response balls.

I hope this is the start of a long career for him. Doing the basics right, with much discipline gets you wicket all the time

For a while he seemed better suited for the test format. So far so good. If he didn't have such useless bowling partners bowling along with him, maybe we would have seen some more wickets taken by him earlier on.

With everything being said, I still feel that He is a bit raw. maybe If was born in England or Australia, He would have been in their HP/Academy. I feel like He is not too far from attaining McGrath Like Accuracy. He needs a really Good bowling coach. preferably somebody who used to play international Cricket and Bowled within 120-140 kph range and is a good teacher. He still needs a bit more fine tuning before he can be deemed as world class.

Hope he works out for BD, BD desperately need a decent test pacer aside from fizz.

Hopefully some of the youngsters develop as well.

The test ball offers the batsman swing unlike the ODI ball which isn't allowed to get old. I think he has a good variation in his bowling to trouble ODI batsmen. Can become a wicket-taker for the shorter formats unlike some of our pacers.

I am afraid the selectors will throw him into the t20 team again based on Test performance and after he gets smacked they will drop him from both T20s and Test matches, the people in charge dont know how to handle young pacers or which format they should play based on their strengths, we still keep picking Rubel for test matches while many promising players who showed good signs in test matches are nowhere to be found now

We have Apu, Abu, Abul. Now we need Abbu, Abba and Abdul to fill up the team.
