What do you think Shakib thinks of about his team mates individually

I would advise him to retire from Test cricket to prolong his LOI career. Four more years, he will break all sorts of records.

Sakib has exceeded our expectations and like everyone I am very happy and proud of him.

I just have one last wish, retire when you are inform or else you will be in a same situation as Mash now. (just to be clear I don't want Sakib to retire now)

He has lots to achieve in Test cricket as well. A true all time great all rounder cannot be a LOI only great.

We don’t play much Test cricket anyway. Therefore, I don’t see any reason for him to retire.

Yes, aside from WC performances, performances in overseas Tests are what make and break reputations. I hope Shakib the batsman can score more Test centuries and, ideally, he needs to add to his 18 5-wicket hauls and 2 10-wicket hauls.

In any case, the fact that we're even able to think about these future achievements is incredible, given the condition his hand was in last September. The fact that he could go from this:

To this:

in a matter of months was only possible through sheer will and determination.

What Shakib has accomplished in this WC may not be repeated by another Bangladeshi player in the next 50 years. There is daylight gap between Shakib and our other players. Simply amazing performance.

Vettori picks Sakib as the player of the tournament, unlike McCullum "he remembers"

Among top 3 scorers Sakib has hit almost as many boundaries as RAwhit or Warner but hit only 2 sixes while Rawhit hit 14 sixes and Warner 8 but still Sakib has the 2nd best SR of 96 and Rawhit 98, this shows Sakib has been the best at taking singles, doubles, other BD batsmen have so much to learn from him (but they won't)
Sakib's average is the highest for any batsman this WC , 86

(wasn't aware of it)

I like his willingness to handover captaincy to someone younger. However, instead of handing it over to someone 26-27 years old, ie Soumya or Mosaddek, he should promote Miraz as the next captain.

Shakib is unwilling to captain this BD team because he probably feels that the team is past its glory days and do not see brighter days in the near future. He reached his peak this WC, and from this point onwards, he will be happy with personal milestones. His mind is already preoccupied with politics or post cricket activities, and mentally he does not seem invested enough to put the necessary work to bring Bangladesh team out of the transition phase it has suddenly found itself in. So he is seeking an easy way out: we were thrusted captaincy when we were in our twenties, why don't you do the similar thing now? The answer is simple: when you were in your twenties, we did not have a Shakib.

Selfish as always. That is why Shak is never a great player like Rohit or Stokes or Smith - they can get their team over the finish line - but Shak can't - because he is happy with this own personal glory, achieved through inspiration from Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed.

Are you for real? Shakib was never a good captain. I hate him as a captain and he is smart enough to know his limitations. He doesn't have to prove anything to anyone at this stage of his career. All the young cricketers praise Shakib tremendously as he always backs them up. He is there to support through the transition but he doesn't want captaincy, what's wrong with that? When he got the captaincy from Mash people criticized that he is selfish and he kicked out Mash to get the captaincy now he doesn't want the captaincy that is also a problem. Bah!!! Haters will always hate. Go and worship Rohit, Stokes et.al. Shakib will be Shakib, he doesn't need to be anyone else.

I can understand why Shakib is not enjoying captaincy role at this point. His "perform or get out of the way" policy will not go well with this team. Only Tamim listened to him, but Riyad is showing he will stick around as long he can. Given Riyad is a popular figure in the dressing room, and there is a good number of players not performing themselves, I can see Shakib having to deal with whole lot of complicated politics in the dressing room, instead of focusing on his or team game plans.

As he implied in his interview, Chacha's presence in the dressing room is not making things easy either, as that trashbag keep leaking inside info to media and demoralizing players by saying wrong things.

Whoever it may be, now that Shakib expressed annoyance at him publicly, expect some retaliation with whole lot of negative news about Shakib coming to media.

I hope so too. I heard his name came up as well. I still have so much respect for Mash and it will be shattered if that's true. He could've retired as a hero, but he made a complete mess out of it. Very unfortunate . I also think it's goti as he has a record of doing such petty stuff.

Yeah true . He has always been in trouble for being straight forward and speaking his mind. I am just feeling bad that the harmony in the dressing room has been disrupted due to some stupid politicians like goti

Him implying that the captaincy should be handed to someone younger is stupid. When he or Mushy was handed the captaincy, they were permanent members of all formats with no one to replace them. If we look at the younger bunch like Soumya, Sabbir, Miraz, Mosaddek, Fizz or whatever... none of these are irreplaceable and are constantly on the edge to get dropped. These guys have shown nothing in terms of stability throughout their career to deserve a promotion. Miraz may be our skipper long term as he is a proven leader from the age level. But as of now, he is nowhere near a consistent performer.

At their age, Shakib, Tamim, Mushy, Riyad should be taking charge as they are suppose to be at their prime. You dont brush off responsibility when you still have years of cricket left in you. Hate how selfish our seniors have become recently.
