Nazimuddin's story
Hi guys this is my first post. This story put smile on my face
Cricinfo published Naz's story here http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/icl2...ry/374778.html
Quote:
Here is an interesting story about Nazimuddin growing up as a cricketer. It was at an Under-19 World Cup pre-tournament camp and he was made to get into a 40-minute ice bath at 7.00 am in the winter. A sobbing Nazimuddin called his mother after the ordeal and asked, "You want your son alive or you want a cricket player?" And the reply was, "A son who is a cricket player." Nazimuddin didn't call home for the next four weeks but eventually realised the value of the advice. It was his journey into manhood.

Actually this is a old story, I read about this when nazimuddin came into the limelight after scoring 75 against pakistan.

btw why would be forced to take an ice bath at 7? Was it part of training? Seems too harsh.

Its called perennial loser.
Never could make it when given chance in the national team.
Now just bashing retired has-beens and C grade players.

Only a couple/handful of them are not.
Shane Bond is one of them.
The rest are retired, old, national team discarded ( our ours own in DW team) and C grade indian domestic player who'd never make it to the natioanl team.

Not harsh and very effective. He was training under Richard McInnes, a guy who transformed U-19 cricket in Bangladesh into what we know of it today.

A mandatory training tool to be the toughest, strongest mentally among the peers. Also easing the aches and pains.
Form an internet blog:
Quote:
For years the practice of the ice bath has been touted as an effective way to reduce pain and inflammation after a hard workout, motivating athletes to sit, teeth chattering, while the cold does its work. The basic theory is that the low temperature constricts the blood vessels in your legs, reducing the swelling. When you break free from the frigid waters and begin to warm your body up again, the blood delivers fresh oxygen to the muscle cells to help them repair the damage done by your 20-mile run straight up the sides of Kilimanjaro.
