I meant to open a thread about our team playing mock/simulation of T10 or T6 or any variants in local league. Sometimes just like you can play sacrifice chess, anti chess, or chess360 to get out of the rut, if we specialize in finding a tournament that exclusively searches for power hitters, that should be great. Kind of like Pace Hunt Program. Or is it spelled Programme? What's the difference anyways?
Suppose we can set up tournaments where two innings are played and the batsman who gets 50 in the T6 over is the champion regardless of result.
So here is a list of lower order considerations starting with 6,7 and 8. 5 is Mushiqur, who is batsman and wicketkeeper. So technically Riyad falls under it. I threw in some random names. Feel free to mention or vote others.
Imagine how many extra runs we can cash in if we can get some one like Pandu or Maxwell. (Or my favorite Yusuf Pathan/Bevan/Klusener type of old...)
As I found out from creating the poll, we have SERIOUS deficiency of core power hitters. I mean if we have to choose from the likes of Mehidy/Mithun/Mossadek then we are kfced..
Rafique was amazing. But we seriously need to fill the void.

Rafique was never amazing in batting - except for his one opening knock against Zimbo and one test innings against AUS - nothing comes to my mind. And those innings too were more of jhore bok mare type.
More often then not, Rafique was like current Mashrafe - almost could not bat.
From the current crop of players, I cannot choose anyone except Mahmudullah.
Shabbir, Mosaddek, Miraz and others - lightyears away from Mahmudullah in terms of late hitting as well dependability and frequency.
I wish we had truly developed Aftab Ahmed. He had the talent but he was a LAZY bum.

Mossadek has changed his style a lot and showed it from BPL 2019. I would say he is definitely one of the power-hitters in the squad. As for Sabbir, he does better when he is slowly building an innings and we shouldn't play him late in the order anymore as he isn't a power-hitter.
I am not sure if we are discussing current players or this thread is more about how we can build a system to grow some power hitters which might be useful to plan on starting now since Asia Cup is in T20 format and next T20 WC is also coming up. We already know who does what, limitations we have. Now the time to be proactive. Good thread this.
No you are correct One World, it's more of a long term plan. But if we even have some unknown hitter whom we probably are not aware of, why not rope them in and try?
Riyad may fill "Dhoni's" role but seriously he is more of a "senior" higher order batsman. Dhoni can afford to come and play a knock of a finisher, but unlike India if we lose two or three early wickets than we really don't have any left with experience.
Mehidy/Mossadek/Mithun are far cry from solid finishers. People say our batting is strong. I never believed that. Senior are great, but not our core/lower order.
Mahmudullah is the best we've got atm. Mosaddek has potential but I hope his overall game doesn't get affected by it. Saifuddin is also good. Sabbir needs to find some sort of rhythm.

Essence of my post is... who will fill our #7 spot? Right now as it seems it is a wild card slot. Mithun and Mosaddek haven't earned it in my opinion. Mehidy is our specialist bowler so that's that. So is Saifuddin. But it doesn't hurt to have a specialist pinch-hitter.
Well with tamim and soumya at the top and liton getting that 94 I’d say liton should be given a run in the middle order, finishers are riyad, sabbir and potentially afif, saifuddin as well.
There was a bloke who was touted as a power hitter, he was a top order bat, got a 150 or something which made headlines but a lower grade of cricket, before he made his list A and FC debuts. Don’t think he’s done particularly well but he was supposed to be able to whack the ball, maybe look at giving him a good domestic run as a lower order hitter to see what he’s about.
Sabbir has exceptional talent but to succeed consistently at the international level you’ve got to develop into a player who is about more than just talent.
The player I may have been referring to in my previous post may have been azmir ahmed.

What specialist? Have you ever seen a pilot who can't fly a plane?
If he is a specialist, God save Bangla cricket.. joy bangla

I like how non-Bangladeshi (Gowza) knows more about our domestic than most. lol
Yup, looked into Afif. He sounds like a great prospect. What bout this Rony Talukder guy? Or Atif. (Probably not lower order.)
And again love and respect to the players, but I feel we could've STILL cashed in ~300 today had we had some brutal hitters. It's not a complete gremlin.
Want to have a look at Azmir Ahmed in the domestic T20(local only) as well as the BPL. He is an opener though. If I remember correctly, he scored a double century in the first division league.

Which Atif?
Rony Talukder is like 29 years old lol. He WAS a great prospect, went the same route as so many others.
