The most valuable player, is based on a point system...with 13 games he is 6th on the list with 238,5 points, the winner Maxwell has 286 points hé played 16 games...if Shakib had played 16 games hé would have near 295 points...but neverthless a good tournament from him

I might sound cynical now but why it seemed Shakib did not go for the catch although he could put an effort.

Trying to go for the catch and missing for 4. The risks was higher. Plus he was running in from the boundary. Not always you take the risky proposition.

From CI-

Surprise package
For someone rated as one of the best allrounders in international game, Shakib Al Hasan had played smaller, defined roles in the Knight Riders set-up in the past. Bowling has been his stronger suit, but this year Shakib raised the stakes as a batsman. His 227 runs gave the fragile middle-order some girth and his ability to ramp up the pace of scoring lent much-needed intent. It all came together in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore when he partnered Uthappa in a 119-run stand for the fourth wicket that took less than 12 overs and scored 60 off just 38 balls. Shakib's all-round form kept Jacques Kallis, a proven stalwart, out of the Knight Riders' XI.

How did Sir Jadeja take more wickets than Shakib? I thought Shak was the better bowler?

He is the better bowler. Jadeja got two 4 fors in 16 outings with Econ 8.15.

Where as Shakib in 13 matches got 11 wickets with an econ of 6.68.

Since in this format most of the time a team remains not out, the econ is more important than wicket.

They are just explaining it in business terms. Assume Shakib was a product and KKR made an investment on Shakib. Like in any business, you would want a POSITIVE return. In this case, they invested about 2.8 to purchase Shakib in return they got a profit of 5.5. To sum it up, he was a very good player to buy at the auction because he produced some great performance with both bat and ball.
