Default Good OD line-up!

With the exception of Rafiqul Islam (who, I still feel, should been replaced by Aminul), I like the batting line-up of the last practice match.

Golla
Hannan
Rafiqul
Rokon
Sanwar
Tushar

It's still too early to speculate but I believe the following should be the line-up for the ODI:

1. Hannan
2. Golla
3. Rokon
4. Sumon
5. Sanwar /Tushar
6. Mashud
7. Sujon
8. Rafique /Kapali
9. Tapash
10.Talha
11. Maju

Some facts from the last game:
15 runs were given away as wides by the BD side, 9 of which came from Anwar Hossain.

Tapash was the most economical 9 overs, 2 maidens, 26 runs for 2 wickets.

Default Can anybody

Can anybody on this board imagine Rokon to be a future captain?

When there is a player like Golla and Monju available? Although player performance is not an assessment for a definition of future captain, but I don't see how Rokon is the man to be an acting captain in absence of the following players:

1) Pilot
2) Sumon
3) Sujon

And yet, he was the acting captain against NFO XI in a match which we won.

But he did one thing right - being a captain once.

He showed that he would like to bat at number four if is given the choice.

Default Captain

Fahmida, please explain why you believe either Sumon or Sujon ought to be a future captain-

w/ Sumon, what do we know about him as a person ? What do we get to know about him as a person when hr bats ? Nothing really that,s seriously indicative of his captaining abilities. Also, look a PAK/AUS/INDIA..and Gilchrist, INZI, Dravid. How many of them became or will become a capt permanently after the capt leaves. Also, in terms of tests, AL-Shariyar is almost as experienced as Bashar.

w/sujon...we all agree that MASHUD is a swell guy, isnt it, and would like to see him at the helm for quite a while. How old will Sujon be after that ?

ABout the boy Al-Shariar himself, well, everything from his batting tells us that he is kinda wreckless on the pitch- but elsewhere, do we know. And besides, this was a picnic game, most other guys just wanted to relax. So the infamous coach/ mgmt just chose someone fairly experienced, and with aggressive traits.

Default You mentioned aggressive & LINKS

Isn't that what we want from our boys ? instead of being complete chickens ?
However, I'd hold off my comment on Rokon 'the captain' because I am not a big fan of his reckless batting and you can't judge him over a win in a picnic match.

Sending himself at number 4 was good. He never wanted to be an opener, it was BCB and the team managements idea to make an opener out of him. As a result, he goes in to open with the attitude of a lower middle order.

Whenever you post a link, this board cuts it in half. One way to get around it is to click on the 'insert a hyperlink' (do a mouse over on top of the 10 icons in the formatting mode section and the fifth one with a earth/link pix on it is the link icon) icon and
type in the TEXT link
click ok
Cut and paste the LINK in the box
Click ok

This will create a TEXT link for you.

Default Only on past performance by BCB

I have said Sumon and Sujon to be a likely captain because both of them was either captain or vice captain of the national or A team. (Sujon was vice captain for the national team for quite a long time and Sumon was the captain for the A team and is now vice captain for the national team).

Otherwise, I have no intention whatsoever to lose Pilot - as THE captain.

I think in the far distant future, if Pilot is injured so that he can't keep wickets, he can still be a Bangladesh captain - only for his batting AND EXPERIENCE (he has played in more ODI matches than any other Bangladeshi until now).
