Default Bangladesh hire wicket-keeping specialist

Quote:
The Bangladesh national team will be availing the services of a wicket-keeping specialist during their 10-day preparatory camp in Australia.

According to the chairman of Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB's) cricket operations Akram Khan, there will be a focus on wicket-keeping, while another individual was hired to provide throwdowns for the batsmen.

“The decision was taken as per the requirements of the team management. The wicket-keeping specialist will obviously focus on keeping, while the other specialist will help the batsmen bat at the nets,” Akram told The Daily Star yesterday.

“Our main target is to help the national team acclimatise to the conditions as quickly as possible. And as a result, we will take all the steps that will help us do that,” he added.

Good decision. Hopefully it helps our wicketkeepers especially Mushy even if it is for a short period.

I can provide throw-downs to the batsmen, does that make me a specialist?

I used to do that in my Under-19 years to Guyana's national batsmen and the visiting teams...

Yes, obviously

WKing one isn't a bad idea. There's a good chance a **** ton of balls will go over Mushy. But only 10 days?

Throwdown specialist I thought meant learning how to throw the ball around on the ground to scuff up the ball properly, like the other teams are doing to get reverse swing by 6th over! I got excited for a min then I realized they just hired a ball boy.

This is just a temporary thing and we won't be relying on spin during this series but yes I agree, we definitely need a spin coach.

So Monty Panesar is the net-bowler for the 10-day camp in Sydney.

On Bangladesh’s day two practice, Australian baseball coach Jon Deeble had worked with Tigers as fielding specialist. Mainly he worked on throwing with the cricketers.

How much can Monty help them play SLA?

BD's biggest hurdle in Kiwi-land may be seam.

How much of a blunder is this?

The reason you need some keeping tips is because of the tennis ball bounce off NZ pitches and the propensity for the ball to swing AFTER passing the batsman. Something about wrist position of how you collect the ball and then how you track the ball.
