How was our WC actually ?
Our WC's achievement apart from SHAKIB,
2 wins against 'supposedly weaker' opponents West Indies and Afghanistan who were must win targets.
Only one win against a higher ranking side aka SA, who by the way having their worst wc ever losing against almost everyone.
I would see being seventh for this BD side is equivalent of being 9th in our previous wcs. Which means, average and below par level like our own ranking. No improvement.
We were overhyped by both the foreign and desi media this time due to our early successes in the tourney.
We won only 3 out of 10 games including warm up. Any difference from 2011 wc failure where we won 3 out of 7 games? No.
Infact If Shakib wasn't there, we would have a great fight with Afghanistan to be the number "Ten".

Yeah like 2011 WC. We were 9th overall like our rankings (back then). Failed to go to next round due to run rates.

A below average campaign popped up by a brilliant individual performance from Shakib.

“Golden generation” - FAILED. Except Shakib this would’ve been even more miserable WC.

We only finished below SL due to rain. Otherwise in all likelihood we would have finished 6th.

What did not happen has no say in this. SL can also say they could have beaten us.

With this shambolic performance you think Lanka would have been an easy win?
They beat England. We got annihilated by them.

The last game against Pakistan changed the outlook of the team’s performance. We saved the worst for the last. In a way, today’s game showcased how barring shakib, this team is actually full of non performers.

This was far better performance compared to 2011. forget win-loss ratio.
our lowest score in this tournament was 221.
in 2011, we got bundled out for 78 and 58 in front of home crowd..
Our bowling completely sucked for the most part. that's why the win loss ratio looks bad.

Why should we forget about the win loss ratio? In the end this is the only thing people will remember..who will remember our fight vs NZ Aus and Ind

There was no fight against Aus. That was one sided game if there ever was one.

Disappointing, 2015 was better.
In 2007 we made super 8 at the expense of IND.
In 2011 uhm we successfully conquered Europe? lol
In 2015 we overcame pressure, finished strong and made the quarterfinals (Our last 3 performances in the group stages were a record chase against SCO, followed by a win against ENG, followed by a very close 3 wicket loss to NZ)
In 2019 we had a very good start but failed to capitalize and disappeared in crunch time. In all likelihood we'll end up 8th after Aus loses to SA

We need to genuinely invest in a pace academy like India and Australia has done. otherwise, Bangladeshi Mitchell Starc will not pop out of thin air...

Forget Mitchell Starc, we don't even have bowlers of the ability of Shami Ahmed and Southee
