I think management will go with Liton. They gave a good run to Soumya, they drafted in Mustafiz so Liton better play tomorrow in place of either imrul or soumya

KaEdge is rubbish. He will score 15 runs max before edging his way back to the pavilion

Shahadat's selection doesn't really matter, since we don't have many alternatives. He can bowl 8-10 overs and give it to spinners.. But Imrul is a big worry, we don't want to put unnecessary pressure on the middle order by nicking outside the off stump in the first 2-3 overs. Maybe management will give Liton a chance, who deserves the spot after consistent performance across last couple of seasons..

We don't need your attitude to change, but we surely need those 200 runs

TO kayes credit he scored century in the last two test series that he played against SL and zim.. otherwise his stats are pretty dismal considering the quality of batsman we have now.... avg mid 20s... You can't have these type of players in the team anymore unless there is clear indication of talent and impending success... I am not sure Kayes fits that...

But given his last two performance, him playing first test can be argued. Hope he does well, i really want to win this test series but not optimistic at all seeing the same old crap of bhimrul and sharapova... (need both to have their days)...

Even 20 will be a big achievement for KaEdge
I hope they show some sense and pick Liton instead of making more blunders

Kayes has an average of 23. Is it too bad considering our standardSpeSpecially as the guy is improving? How many openers have we produced who average morethan 23? http://www.espncricinfo.com/bdeshsl/...er/280734.html

Nafees Iqbal and Shahriar Nafees are openers we produced who averages more than him. Neither of them are anywhere near the test team now.

Thats how bad Kayes is, especially in this day and age of Bangladesh cricket. We are not in 2003 anymore

It was a surprise to include Shahadat Hossain. Even Shahid isn't not a outstanding performer of domestic cricket. Only Liton's inclusion is a proper selection outside of the current squad

KaEdge has issue, big issue with the moving ball, make you wonder what he is doing as an opener.

However, you have to keep in mind that in home condition, it won't move as much, and the current corp of quicks in PAK team is not likely to bother him too much. As a result, he has a decent chance of doing well.

In terms of Taskin/Shahadat: I don't know, Taskin seems like dragged into the team about a year early. Shahadat, on the other hand, did well when he did. He was never economical, but did get wicket in test with his short balls.

In short, my feeling is that, I'm not 100% satisfied with the team, but I'm willing to give the selectors benefit of the doubt.

In case of selecting the 11 Haturu consistent. He don't want too many and too quick changes and it seems he is adamant to the 11 according to his choice. He is a good coach , I have no doubt. So I hope his choice able players like Kayes Jubayer hossani will perform.

Kayes have issues no doubt but the
thing is options we left. After the
injury of Anamul what we have in
hand to open the innings? Actually
run out of options went in favour of
Kayes. furthermore his recent test performance is really good.

In one of the threads, someone posted Kayes' latest scores. It's one single-digit score after another. He's in really poor form.

It's basically Soumya vs Hom for me. One is the better batsman, the other is the better bowler. Since our attack is weak, going with Hom might make more sense (also, Soumya isn't risk-averse in his batting), but I wouldn't mind either.

And yes, definitely prefer Shahid, whom I know nothing about, over Shahadat.

Mohammad Isam's prediction:
Bangladesh (probable): 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Imrul Kayes, 3 Mominul Haque, 4 Mahmudullah, 5 Mushfiqur Rahim (capt & wk), 6 Shakib Al Hasan, 7 Soumya Sarkar 8 Taijul Islam, 9 Jubair Hossain, 10 Rubel Hossain, 11 Shahadat Hossain/ Mohammad Shahid

Anamul just scored a century and some. His injury issue is over. It has been over a month. Usually dislocated shoulder heals in 2 weeks.

শুনলাম কালকে শুরুতে ব্যাটিং অথবা বোলিং কোনটা আগে করবে নির্ভর করছে টস এ জেতার উপর

For those of you were wondering, Taskin will not play test cricket for at least next two years. His body is still a bit too fragile.

Isam's probable XI is what it's most likely to be. I'm guessing Shahid might have to wait a little longer for his test debut. The old horse might just edge thru.
