Default The Mehedi Maruf Thread

Shahriar Nafees, Mosaddek, Sabbir, Nasir have all been good, but the guy who has raised eyebrows is Mehedi Maruf.

Didnt know anything about him before BPL. But he seems to be quite a T20 batsman with a bit of flair, and aggression. Can clear the fence with ease. And also has the unconventional shots.

Not sure whether he's a one series wonder or someone with potential. But boy he has entertained this BPL.

^Batsmen not bowler.

Another Shamsur perhaps. who had a blast 2013 then faded away. But Mehdi Maruf, batting looks solid technically, good shot selections, big hitter; good against pace and spin. Kopa Shamsur was mainly doing well against spin 2013 BPL. Let's keep and eye on him. Maruf, impressive for sure

Shamsur wasnt significantly different from other batsman. He was attacking, but thats all.

This guy is a natural six hitter. And not a Zia or Milon. He seems to be a proper batsman.

Probably the only two natural six hitters in our side are Shabbir, Soumya. We could do with one or two more.

Mehdi Maruf looks solid and has done really well. Might give him a chance in our next T20 match. Perhaps in SL series.

Seems your right, True. I kind of agree to that. Some how selector then, imagined what Maruf is doing now, Md Mithun and even Shuva would be hoping to be like

Farukhs bad imaginery player he saw Md Mithun to be.

Better late than never. Maruf has a lovely pick up shot, goes smoothly up and over! He is just exactly we need at the top from a right hander.

I am not in favor of taking him to NZ just yet. I am all for him being picked for T20s in subcontinental conditions though

More than decent player. His batting needs to face more advanced bowling.

Maruf was classmate of Shamsur and Mushfiqur. So, unfortunately he did not get the chance to hold the glove there in BKSP either, occupied by one and only, TE's indicating to.

Abu haider rony is a very good bowler. He is brilliant with his yorkers and slowers.
He is the 4th best pace bowler in Bangladesh after mustafiz, taskin and rubel.

Although both rubel and rony are discarded but they are much much better than Rabbi, shubhasish and Al amin (the most over-rated pacer in the country).

Maruf is a good batsman, he lacks the ability to play cuts of pace bowlers and did not see him hook much either. Hope national team coaches works on those two aspects.

Rony needs to add more pace. Accuracy and Yorkers at ~130mph can work at domestics but not good enough for international levels.

Yeah I think rony should've got the call for NZ, Rubel as well.

Bowlers with a bit of strength training should be able to add 5kph to there bowling and that's all rony would need with his skills.

A bit disappointed with Rony's performance this BPL. Lacks the aggression and fire he displayed in last tournament. And a reason why he was picking up wickets was he was pitching it full. Needs to do a lot more of that.

Speaking of Mithun, that six at 1:45. Amazing. Struck one of these at either Asia Cup or ICC T20

Rony is a great bowler. Definitely no one hit wonder. Just not at his best this BPL. But you can tell he is a good thinking bowler who has a great yorker. Maruf is a good batsman who i think should be groomed for the T20 format.

LOL at the fact that this thread turned into a Rony thread.

Maruf looks like yet another Nazimuddin (in fact carbon copy of Naz), stand and hit, no feet movement, a little swing and he will look hideous! Just a domestic league batsman. He'd struggle like a bitch in NZ conditions. (And that's harsh because look at Pak rn)

Shariar Nafees and Nasir YES ! but please NO Mehedi Maruf as he's just a one series wonder without any feet movement.
