Guys, I will not be able to post regularly for next one and a half months for my final exams. So if you can’t find my posts around to add rep points, please look at the archive and add there.
Thank you for your kind efforts.

Rep Power
Can some one please explain how this works and why I seem to have gone from green to red.
Have I been a naughty boy or something?
Should I be facing the wall???

I was hoping that my post will not generate hatred but it appears to me it hasn’t worked that way. Besides receiving a negative rep and comments (although the member has no rep power), I have also failed to get a response from one of the Webmaster regarding one of my queries after a couple of attempts.
The idea of my post was what is the point of creating a superior and inferior complexity among the members. Because I already noticed that some people in this forum feel that they belong to an “elite club” and undermine others, it is inevitable that this kind of rating system will only make it worse and create division among members.
It seems you guys reluctant to accept criticism; if you do accepts, you only accept it from your favourite “personalities”.
Btw, the rating system is totally biased. Some people have been given a good initial starting rep points by mods, its very obvious.
Anyway, good luck and enjoy the circus!

Mods can't do this - they do not have the privileges.
I am still getting used to this new fangled forum but I believe the rating points are calculated by some arcane formula intrinsic to the forum.

I was just experimenting how the rep system works. Approved most of the people's post, giving them positive rep. But some of them got some negative rep as well. I think, you are not one of them. They must have a very high rep, especially the moderators
I believe, they will not ban me for this misdeed.

The following is excerpt from vBulletin Manual. Thought might be helpul for forum members in understanding the general process of the User Reputation Calculation.
Register Date Factor
The number of reputation points that a user is able to give or take is dependant on several factors, with the length they have been registered as one of them. A user's power is first initialized at 1 and then this factor and the factors that follow are used to increase it. For example if you set this to 365, every 365 days that the user has been a member of your forum, they would gain one point. So if they have been a member for five years, they would gain 5 points of power for a total of 6.
Post Count Factor
The amount of posts that a user has can also affect their reputation power. Set this to number of posts that you want to award one point for. For example, set this to 50 and for a user with 500 posts, they would gain 10 points of power.
Reputation Point Factor
The users current reputation score can also affect their reputation power. Set this to 100 and a user with a reputation of 1000 would gain 10 points of reputation power. If you set any of the power factors to 0, that will effectively remove that factor from having an effect on the user's reputation power.
Minimum Post Count
If the reputation system is enabled, anyone will be able to rate a post but only users with a post count above the level you set here will be able to actually give points or take points from another user.
Minimum Reputation Count
As with the post count above, a user must have a reputation above this level to be able to give or take points from another user's score.
Daily Reputation Clicks Limit
This sets how many unique members that a forum user will be able to rate in any 24 hour period. Administrators can rate as many people as they wish.
Reputation User Spread
This setting dictates how many unique members that a user must rate before they are able to rate the same member twice. The goal of this setting is to stop a member from either artificially bumping or dropping a user by repeatedly rating their posts.

thanks for providing the above information.
but what is the point of making us all work hard to distribute points when administrators can give/take away rep points at will. my main reason for opposing this is based from the observation that some members have been given a good number of initial points by administrators which is totally unfair on others and therefore, i am inclined to conclude that this system will not be used fairly.

Mon bhai, thanks for your support and kind words.
But really, some forum members here are really taking this very seriously and feeling very proud because they have more rep power than others.
All I can say is grow up you bunch of nambey pambey misfits.
Oops, here we go, more negative points.
:p :p

Some of us had low reps and some had negatives. so its better that bc don't show them. cause there wasn't any chance to improve them aince rep power was turned off

No more rep/repp??.... Damn I was doing so well.. I have to admit, I noticed some members got a good start rather unfairly, but they were eventually brought down to earth (hahaha)... well it was great experience.
My request to admin/mods, please keep the thread rating enabled as it seems quite effective so far from my perception. Obviously it'll take some time before everyone gets used to this feature and uses it in a fair manner.
