Drop Ash
He doesn't deserve to be captain. Please give your opinion
My reason: SA were 5/165, Shakib was on his pick taking vital wickets. Ash brought Mehrab (part timer) into action which doesn’t make sense to me. SA got away with two centuries by Prince and Boucher and ended the second day on high 5/357

wat
Drop AshFaFool? it's very easy to say but hard to find his replacement
Experience: over 130+ ODI games, playing for past 5+ years
Talent: Shows it once or twice a year
Capable of winning a match for the team
Strong and energetic leadership skills
Can you beat that? Do you have another player in our team who can be his replacement?
I know most of you are going to say that make Mashrafee or Sakib a captain. But think it over...can we really afford to distroy another player? Ashraful is already a creak head...he does w/e he wants to do n there is no rule book for him....so I hope we can keep this AshPagla untill next world cup and then drop him.

This is more than just a yes/no question, which makes it impossible for me to vote. Simply going by performance, Ashraful would probably warrant a place in the ODI team but certainly get excluded from the test team. However, as detroitpagla has pointed out - if he's not the captain, who will it be? It's not so much the quality of captaincy that I'm worried about when thinking of replacing him, but rather the fact that owing to the fragile state of our players' mentalities coupled with young age and tripled with inexperience, captaincy might come as an added burden to many, thereby hampering performance. Mashrafe isn't fit to lead mentally or physically and among the only other handful of names that come to mind, Shakib is too young, Razzak isn't a sure shot in the test XI and Rahim still wears nappies.
It's unfortunate that we have to stick to people just because they make appropriate (note that I say appropriate, not decent or great) captains (for whatever reason), e.g. Bashar and now Ashraful albeit their dismal performances on the field, but that's how it's going to be until we have a core group of players in at least their late twenties.
PS: Nothing against Bashar - he's still the best test batsman that we've ever had and I have enough respect for the way he handled a young team off the field, but if we had a couple of more experienced guys in the side, he'd probably have been dropped a few months after the 2007 world cup.

good reply detroitpagla.. next world cup still very far away, we need captain who sets example for others to learn and follow his footsteps.. I don’t see that happening with Ash.. after playing so long and yet he seems very immature and doesn’t know how to take the responsibility.. when will he learn? He will never learn and we fan have to wait for some miracle to happen in every match..

I know, not everyone can be good captain but there is no harm in trying.. We’re loosing anyway and soon will be loosing our test status if not making any real progress

I say put Sakib as captain and give Ash a break for 3 months and start playing him again as a specialist batter. That way he can get a little break and he will lose some pressure like picking who to give the ball to,what to say to the media, winning the toss and batting or bowling, doesn't have to worry about the team's performance a lot.

I disagree with you sb, making shakib our captain will ruin his career. It is too much for him to handle right now.I believe it should be given to mash, I agree that he often gets injued but he should be better then ash, the chance of ashraful actually doing good with anything is one in a million that includes his captaincy. He is simply a fluky player, we rely on him too much, I dont know what everyone sees in him, he is way overrated.

this is the problem with so many new players all at once, only candidates for captaincy are ash, mash and razzak. ash isn't performing well enough to hold a batting spot let alone be captain and razzak isn't even a test regular at least not yet, so we're left with mash. the other thing, if ash isn't in a captaincy role then who will be vice captain? i don't want to see any of the youngsters as vice captian this early because they really need to be left alone to develop properly.

we just dn't have anyone else to replace him with at the moment...if we r to pick a captain based on performance at the moment only sakib can suit that role..but that's the last thing we wanna do to one our most valuable player in the team...

I want to know who had the captaincy experience from our current squad… it could be NCL, Academy match, BD A, under 19.. doesn’t really matter.. If possible give some stats.. Thanks in advance

Man this is ridiculous. Do any of you who voted for "yes" realise that once Ashraful's dropped from the team, our chances of a win decreases to zero? If he's not there, there is no chance of our fluky miracles. Face it - no one in the team can bat anywhere near as what he's capable of. Find some one who is a match winner in our inexperienced bunch of kids, and then I'll agree to drop him. He deserves to be out of the team I'll agree - but if Ashraful's out of the team, Bangladesh are out of the game.

I am really surprised at how some of you guys are saying that Ashraful has alot of experience ! Whats the point of having experience if you are performing like a rookie ! And all Ashraful talks about after every match is how young and inexperienced he and his team mates are and how they are learning by every match. I am not sure how much of that is true. The Trademark " Ashraful Shot " always looks good when it comes off, but when it doesn't it looks awful and thats how I look at Ashraful now a days ! On the other hand, I am sure everybody is aware of the fact that we don't have any superstars waiting in the bench to replace Ashrafool !

Dropping him from the squad will be too harsh even though he deserves it. the poll here is about his captaincy.

Do you mean anyone who wont succeed. How about Tushar Imran. He will match his current form.

Sorry despite all those bad performance by him we still can not afford to drop him. This is the strength of Bangladesh cricket. You have to either take it with pain or leave it.

If you ask me, a possible future captain is Mehrab Hossain Jr. If he doesn't flop like Kayes did, he could well be ready in a few years time after Ash is done with.

as much as i dont like ashraful and think tht he's a total fluke with a big head..thinks too much of himself.. i wudn't drop him.. not because of him.. i wud not drop him for the sake of the team.. coz u drop him.. ur next choice will be: mash, sakib or razzak.. now.. i wud no way.. no how.. no matter how good he does.. make sakib the captain at this stage.. it wud probably be the biggest mistake ever made by anyone.. he is too young.. he's doing gr8.. let him get better.. after 5 yrs.. u gimme this proposal.. i'll agree without thinkin twice.. and razzak isn't a regular test player.. which leaves us with mashrafe.. now.. he may hv the xperience and all that.. but he gets injured too often.. every now and then.. ppl r worried sick over whether or not he'll play.. it wud not do well for the team if they had to wait till the morning of the match to know whether their capt is playing or not.. plus then who'll be the vc?? not sakib.. too young..
and dont even put rahims name in the possible captains list.. he's still a kid..

I don't get it why are you ppl so afraid to drop that idiot ashraful?? it's not like if we don't have him then we will all be out zero!! c'mon have a reality check here what has he done in this tour and the last?? F/all!
theres no point glorying on past performences like england in football 1966..
look to the future not past! this guy is a fluke drop him and make razzq the captain and keep mash the vice.
razzaq is the oldest in squad so they will listen to him..logicaly its the best way to go ..
give that loser a break since you guys like him soo much that you willing to sacrifice BD cricket ..then if he proves his worth in consective good performences not just one, then think about it!
its time the players take responsiblities. this backward thinking mind won't get us far.
This is cricket players are judged by their performence not who we like watching!

shocking innings defeat again.. if we're to improve, we need to give it a go with all the options we have.. the way BD playing at the moment, I'm pretty sure our test status in real danger.. let's think logically and find some answers.. here are few reasons why Ash should be dropped from captaincy:
- He is very selfish and doesn’t give enough credit to his team mates
- His decision making skills plays the same frustrating role as his batting
- His record as captain not just poor very worrying
- His record as batsman fails to meet international standard
- He often gets his partner run out, again very selfish
- Except the occasional fluke he has nothing which can impress the cricket loving fan
I think it’s time for a change, we need a new leader who can show us the right path.. I’m saying again – there is no harm in trying, we’re losing anyway…
