Default Statistics Preview of BD vs AUS

Source: Cricinfo

Bangladesh have played against Australia twice - once during 1990 Australasia cup and another time during the world cup 1999.

I am hoping that Bangladesh players will look to overcome their predecessors on the field.

Notice in the following statistics that the best batsman for Bangladesh (in terms of being top scorer in the match) is Aminul Islam who scored an unbeaten 41 in the first match and Minhazul Abedin who also scored an unbeaten 53. The best bowlers are Minhazul Abedin (2/43) and Enamul haque (2/40).

These players are now not in the current Bangladesh squad. What the current squad should try to do is get past these individual landmarks.

Look at Aminul Islam for example - he scored his one time highest 41 not out against a team like Australia - since then in the middle years - from 1990 till 1999, Aminul Islam has not done much. But as he has the capability, he scored the maiden test century for Bangladesh in Bangladesh's debut test match (145 against India in 2000).

Look at the partnershps part now. There you can see that there is no 50-run partnership for Bangladesh. Also, the 1st wicket partnership consists of only 10 runs. On Sri Lankan batting wickets, our two established openers can certainly score more than 10 runs since they have been opening for Bangladesh for a long time and most of them are against big teams. Its not like those times in 1990 when Bangladesh had played only a few International matches. And also not like the time in the world cup where Khaled Mahmud - who is basically a lower order batsman was promoted up in the opening position.

Besides, the bowlers can also try to cut down the Australian partnerships under 100 runs like the previous two times since Australia has not scored a 100 run partnership against Bangladesh in the last two matches.

I am afraid, BD will do worse then those 2 games. Simply because Australia is stronger than ever.

This will be a blood bath.
