All these deliberations about Ash is baffling, quite honestly. A couple of fifties does not mean much to me. I have given up on him amounting to anything more than " a fifty in ten innings"batsman. Our cumulative effort will largely be shaped by the performances of Tamim, Riyad, Shakib and Mushfiq. Of these, Tamim and Shakib are only just recovering from injuries/sickness. The other two have struggled terribly in these alien conditions. I will be very surprised if we can cross 250 in either innings.
The bowling is looking equally dodgy. When our best fast bowling bet is an upcapped guy and our only strike weapon a spin bowler, we would be hard pressed to contain this English team. Anything under 400 would be a massive effort from our guys.Like most other BC members, I would love to see Shafi, Rubel, and Robiul combo in the starting lineup.

Yes, it is baffling that we are still talking about him. But, what are we to do? As long as he plays, he will be talked about more than anybody. You are right though. All depends on Sakib, Tamim, Riyad and Mushy..

and let me clear it up for the record, as an ethnic bengali, i fully support marital relations...just not during gametime (its sacrosanct - you wouldn't get frisky in the pews during sunday service, would you?). 15 minute half-times were specifically created so that one could get the little lady off and get back to game. cricket with its 40 minute lunches, and 20 minute teas is even more conducive to the female, non-sporting fans of the species.
remember, Beamer bhai, the fate of sport-addicted males all across the Milky Way is riding on your powers of persuasion!

Called it!! I knew this would happen. They could easily play Jislam at 2, and drop that fata$$, and keep Naeem.
But why would they not pick Shafiul!?!?!?! He is our best bowler atm

Ashraful needs to cut his low percentage shots , the shots where he tries to be cheeky. He really needs to build his innings like the good batsmen did in the past such as lara, gavaskar, miandad etc. The more they scored, the hungrier they become. All about getting more and more runs and with that the confidence grows. In test match time doesnt matter, he can watch, leave, defend then express himself more once he gets the feel of the pitch and bowlers.

I'm tired of this "Crapinfo" talk. Cricinfo is probably the greatest web resource ever created for Cricket. We rely on Cricinfo for EVERYTHING but yet, we still bitch about how it sucks. I mean seriously, what more can you expect out of Cricinfo? It's a site that is pretty much run by Indians but they still manage to give good coverage for all International sides. Do you think our people could do any better? Have you seen Tigercricket?

The Cricinfo XI means almost nothing. I'm almost sure Shafiul will play.

looks like the only reason BD did not declare their squad last evening is still not sure about tamim/shakibs fitness or what combination to pick.

I hope they select Shafiul.
I have no issues with Ash anymore. I have issues with the selectors and team management.

ACCORDING TO PA,
naeem, abdurrajjakraj, robin and shamshur rahman are out of contention for todays match. the final 11 will be selected from the rest of the 12.
so the BD twelve for todays game:
tamim, imrul, junaid, jahurul, ashraful, riyadh, shakib, mushfiq, rajib, rubel, rabiul, shafiul
so one of the 4 openers or one of the 4 pacers will be the 12th man

who shafiul or vimrul?
Shafi should have been bowling at lords today. Instead, we will see Vimu making a big 9 and bounced out...once again!

As I suspected yesterday. Kayes is playing. Shafi is not playing.
