Professionalism in the private/corporate sector is what gives us hope. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the government sector. Things have gotten progressively worse over the years. One cannot expect common courtesy let alone professionalism without having to boast mama/chacha's reference. This is why my expectation is very low when it comes to dealing with any organization where the government has any kind of controlling stake.
Going back to cricket, our team has achieved quite a bit in the last couple of years and answered many critics with their performance. If there's one thing both pundits and ardent supporters had doubts about, it would have to be the ability to win away tests in hostile environments. Multan had set us back 14 years. We badly needed this win, at any cost, even if it meant a kick in the rear for some stakeholders. What Papon did may have been a big contributing factor or he may have just gotten lucky with the timing and all, but the important thing is the mission was finally accomplished. It'll be remembered in history as an inflection point. Showing the courage to shake things up when things weren't working is the main reason why some are giving him the benefit of the doubt. Good thing is another external push like this may not be required in a long time. Now the players will have more confidence and believe there's no frontier that cannot be conquered. The team is now ready to push the top teams in their den and steal wins in WI, SL, Pak (UAE).

Coincidentally my first boss gave me the same advice on how to treat subordinates. Sadly it works.

Dropping Mushfiq for the 2nd test is ridiculous. HE has been the best BD in tests in recent times. Dropping Mullah actually makes sense based on performance. He should've been dropped in NZ after the ODIs. Still they kept him.

Well, all you fans of autocratic governance should be happy. Now Papon is claiming he recalled Miraz. Why bother paying selectors a salary if he's going to be the one man answer for BD cricket?

Selectors are idiot anyways, they just there to occupy the position and getting fat. I have seen enough selection.

And this is how we are stuck with the two Begums. A fondness for quick, one person "takes charge" solution. Is Papon now going to go watch all the local leagues? Does he have the cricketing acumen of players who in their time excelled for us internationally? Is he completely immune to BAL pressures?
