Soumya played at #6/7 last time WI toured Bangladesh as well, made scores of 19 and 6. He then got promoted to #3 in the last match, made an attacking 80. Hope he will have better luck sticking to lower-middle order this time.

This will be a pretty mature batting order barring Shanto-
Tamim
Liton
Shanto
Shakib
Mushfiq
Riyad
Soumya
No mention of Saifuddin as one of the three pacers he's considering though. I wonder if he will go with Miraz/Mahedi at #8 and then pick three specialist pacers.
Soumya can also play as pseudo all rounder. Looks a very powerful ODI squad...at least on paper.

How many chances does he keep getting and how many times does he keep yo-yoing. ?

Domingo is prolly thinking ahead and grooming Soumya as a pace allrounder for NZ tour. However, at home, against Windies, this may backfire.
He wants to go with three pacers, only one other spinner besides Shakib. If the pitch is not pacer friendly, if they start to go for runs, we will badly miss that third spinner. That's why I would have gone with Mosaddek, letting him bat at #6, with Riyad at #7. Now we only have Riyad to fall back for few extra overs of spin, who has not been bowling much lately because of his shoulder condition.

Not sure what chance you are talking about.. He was always decent in ODIs as far as I recall. If you are talking about other formats, then that's a different story all together.
Incredibly frustrating reading what Domingo had to say. We already have the power hitter who can bowl some overs in the side and his name is not Soumya. I wish we would stop burying Saifuddin the batsmen like we did with Miraz. He needs to be our number 7 and given more opportunities to finish matches. Soumya has no place in the side if he is not batting 1-3 his so called "power hitting" is a myth. His strength is finding gaps in the powerplay and he can go big when on song but he's too inconsistent. His T20 stats are horrible and he has failed miserably in the middle order in the past. I can name at least 5 better options off the top of my head. Afif, Mahedi, Akbar, Yasir and heck even Mossadek. Lower order should be 6) Riyad 7) Saifuddin 8) Mahedi.

Agreed.. hate this pathetic lust the management has for Soumya... They will try him in every role just to keep him in the side. This guy sucked in his original role and there are much better finishers in the side then him.

How is Mahedi? Don't think I have seen him play. Is he better than Miraz? That's quite a high bar.

I have not seen much of him either. My impression so far is that he is more of a container, not a wicket taker like Miraz. As a batsman, he has more power and is more attacking.
I am not liking it at all how Domingo going with a depleted spin attack in the 1st ODI, if the reports are true. He seems to be thinking too far ahead about NZ tour, ignoring home advantage.
Shakib wants to give Shanto a year at #3. That's mighty generous of him! I doubt though Shanto will survive that long (unless he clicks) with Naim knocking on the door.

I would give Shanto this series and the next 2 to see if he really is capable for international cricket. Liton also took a bit of time to get going so we should have some patience although I am not sold on Shanto yet as much as I was on Liton.
There is a chance Shakib may miss the NZ tour as his wife is expecting their third child at the time. That apparently is another reason to groom Shanto at #3 this series.

NZ series just got harder. Not that we were going to do much there anyways.
