Road to World Cup 2011(Be Paul-the Octopus)
Let us all join in this prediction. Well, I am a cricket student, but that doesn't mean I am trying to pull a Nostradamus. Here is just what I think and not feel about how this world cup is gonna span out. So make predictions based on what u 'think' is gonna happen and not simply saying because u support one country....anyone else is invited to be Paul, but make sure u give a match to match prediction from quater finals onwards following the correct format. Here's mine:
From Group A: Australia (1), Sri Lanka (2), Pakistan (3), New Zealand (4)
From Group B: South Africa (1), India (2), England (3), Bangladesh (4)
So based on the exact scheduling and fixtures, the quaterfinal line up would be:
Australia (A1) v Bangladesh (B4) at Dhaka
Pakistan (A3) v India (B2) at Ahmedabad
New Zealand (A4) v South Africa (B1) at Dhaka
Sri Lanka (A2) v England (B3) at Colombo
then semifinals:
Bangladesh v South Africa (1st quarter winner v 3rd quarter winner) at Colombo
India v England (2nd quarter winner v 4th quarter winner) at Mohali
Finals:
Bangladesh v England
Champion: Bangladesh
Note: Be aware that the quarter fixtures would be first at Dhaka, second at Ahmedabad, third at Dhaka again, fourth at Colombo.
Accordingly, then the home teams, regardless of their standings in group, would play in their home grounds, unless in the case if Sri Lanka plays India, or Bangladesh plays Sri Lanka......
so make sure u keep that in mind when making the predictions of the quarter final lineup. I know its confusing....but if u deeply study how this has been structured, u'll figure it out.....
Go ahead and be PAUL !

A bit more elaboration on my above predictions:
BD will be 4th in group B
They will face Aus in quarter and edge them out in the most electrifying contest in world cup history and end oz hopes of 4th consecutive title
In semis, BD will 'seem' to be likely eliminated at one stage of the game, but sa will maintain their choking status and repeat once again another epic choking act
The finals would be an event, where BD would pull off the unthinkable by beating Eng, with Eng & world media already taken for granted English victory, riding high after Ashes success, but that would not be, and BD v Eng 2011 WC final would replace the Ind v WI 83 or Aus v Sl 96 as the most stunning cricket world cup final, and that shall reverberate around the whole world of being the most miraculous achievement by any nation in a World Cup of any kind be it soccer, rugby, hockey, or any other sport.

In my opinion, Srilanka will Top group A ,They are playing better cricket than other teams in their group, recently they even won ODI series against Australia in Australia, So I'll put them in #1 for group A specially when they are playing on their home soil.
So If we became 4th in Group B then we have to play quarterfinal against them in Srilanka. Which will be the toughest thing to do, have we ever won a match in Srilanka?
So lets try to secure 2nd or 3rd position in Group B, Which is not Unrealistic, If we can Beat India in first match, SA & England will found it difficult to play in our conditions, even the ODI we played against England were very close, and I think we are now a much better team (In performance) than the team played against them last year.

We can still end up playing Sri Lanka if our standing is 3rd and Sri Lanka's 2nd......this is also a high possibility, but i dunno, something tells me we will be facing a non Asian team in quarters..our chances for semis then become unbelievably bright....eitherways with Shak leading, be it Sri Lanka in Colombo or Australia in Mirpur, he isn't Bashar.....so no worries....cometh the hour, cometh Shakib and Co!

Not in SL. We did win against them once in our backyard.
But true...SL is a team that anyone should be scared of. They're a team to watch.

Memory is a bit weak ?
We beat them twice, in 2006, and in 2009, with Shakib's heroics.
Whatever, Shak is not scared, and that will influence the other 10 cricketers on the playing field to be fearless......so the opposition and the ground doesnt matter, history will be created, Insha'Allah!
