Exactly my question, Hathuri exactly knew which player should be appropriate in which format. I guess that riled up a lot of people not only players and selectors. Only the fans remain as sufferers.

Largely incorrect. If we look at a list of players that came in during Hathu's tenure we will see the maximal amount of useless players for the format. On top of that, he tried to blacklist Mominul, who is one of our best home Test batsman.

Sabbir, Soumya, Mithun, Subashish, Rabbi are all useless Test players who debuted in hathu's era.

Tanbir is one for ODIs, one of the worst selections ever.

Jury is still out on Liton.

Jubair, Nurul, Mosaddek got dropped unfairly and all could have been tremendous players for us. Fortunately, Musa and Nurul have good chances of being selected again.

Fizz's SR in the ongoing BCL is 72, Hasan Mahmud 94 http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/eng...ype=tournament

Only an idiot like Nannu would pick pacers with such high SR from domestics for a Test match.

Nurul paid the price of Razzak's idiocy. He was one big innings away from Test team recall, and that could have happened if not Razzak made the ludicrous declaration when Nurul was batting.

Fizz at least has a decent Test record. Problem is he is himself not i terested in Tests and also hides injuries when he has them due to lack of speech/communication.

Hasan's selection is dumbfounding especially when a guy like Ebadat had to wait 3 years to get selected, and that too only because Taskin got injured.

Nannu is the most incompetent selector we have ever had.

Nurul Hasan has been criminally overlooked.

He is a decent Batsman and much better keeper than Litton whom I'd like to call Boiraton courtesy of him not picking up 2 edges

His last BCL match, playing for Central Zone, is a glaring example how ineffective Fizz has become in the longer version. Central had day and a half to bowl out South and ensure a place in BCL final. South got away thanks to resistance from nightwatchman Nasum, and then to late resistance from F Reza and Shafiul.

Fizz took the wicket of SN in his first over, but, for the rest of the innings, could not help at all breaking the resistance of South.

Farhad Reza, Nafees, Abdur Razzak, Shafiul, are all still playing in domestic? I guess they dont have large player pool.

We should make a greentop for the Test and play 2 or 3 seamers. Even if we lose the game it wont matter since we have already lost to Afghans and Zim at home. We need the practice on seaming surfaces, plus our quicks will enjoy themselves as well.

Have you heard of the Bangla phrase "Nijer nak kete porer jatra bongo"? That's exactly what Abdur Razzak had done. He declared prematurely to deprive Central Zone 0.5 bonus point they would get for taking 5 wickets.

I would love to see that. This match is not part of Test Championship, result won't effect our ranking either way. I would love to see BCB using this match to weed out dead-weights like Momin who can't handle seaming pitches.

Without Jarvis and Chatara the ZIM seam attack might not pose much of a threat. At least I would hope so. I think Momin is good enough by BD standards. My current belief is that his problem is that he has too much of a start stop career being a Test specialist and around the same time Hathu went after him. I think the safety of his place in the side as captain, plus him returing to bat at #4 should see him return to form. The real dead weights are guys like Mithun and Riyad/Liton who fail even on flat tracks. Thankfully Riyad is gone for now.

^^ Only reason Riyad survived this long is - comparing to dead-weights like Momin, he can actually hold a bat on seaming pitches.

Riyad is actually decent in terms of technique so no surprise there. Momin certainly has some tinkering to do on his technique. He tends to play away from the body a little too often and has a tendency of missing the line of deliveries on the stumps. IDK if that is poor judgement or an issue of technique.

That being said, I think captaincy will do well for Mominul's sense or responsibility. He's played 3 good to decent innings out of 6 as captain so far, all against good (Indian) to decent (PAK) attacks. His 37 in Indore was great, until his missed the line of an Ashwin delivery which left and got clean bowled. His 30 and 41 in Pindi showed some resolve. The next step will be to convert those starts into some big fifties (75+ scores) and at least 1 hundred in his next 8 innings in Pakistan and SL. I will be backing him to do it.

Is the BCB XI just the U19 boys?

It was clear during the U/19 WC that Tamim is the most gifted of the lot. As per Domingo, Liton is the most gifted batsman in the current national team. IMO, Tamim can be even better than Liton.

Only problem is that, like Liton, Tamim Jr likes to play his shots regardless of the match situation. But then again, we prolly should not try to harness him and turn him into Tamim Sr.

Did Domingo really say that about Liton? I dont see that in any sense.

IMO, The most gifted batters (overall) in BD in the last 15 years, in rank order, would be as follows:

Mushy
Tamim Sr
Shakib
Soumya

The rest have not yet done anything to warrant a mention. You might question Soumya in that case, but Soumya's talent to hit effortless boundaries is unsurpasseed in BD. He just lacks batting know how a la Ashraful.
