Ebadat Hossain just got 2 wickets, we need a bowler like him in the side.

I would take him for LOIs. However, given how infrequently he plays, I would think he still does not have required endurance level for Tests.
IMO, selectors have done the right thing by picking Khaled as the next workhorse in the Test team. Lets see how his trial goes.

We need more seamers for tests. At this point it doesn't have to be someone with a lot of pace. Majority of our test matches are still gonna home so we need work horses like Shahid who can bowl extended spells without giving away a lot runs. Rahi seems to be a good fit at the moment. Really want Shoriful to be groomed as a longer format bowler. Same with Ibadat

If we play Zimbabwe next time – home or away – we should rest all our seniors, and give chances to our newbies. Give them a taste of international cricket.

Who cares about workhorses, we need wicket takers, I would pick a bowler who can bowl 15 overs and take 3 wickets rather than a bowler who bowls 20overs for 1 wicket.

Yea i don't know if you can find many bowlers from the sub continent that can take 3 wickets in 15 overs in a sub continent wicket

What I mean is that I am more in favor of a bowler who is more lethal rather than a bowler who jist bowls overs after overs but not really a wicket taker.
A genuine wicket taker can be used in short bursts.

In subcontinental condition, you do need a workhorse to bowl long spells from one end, while we have spinners or other pacers in short bursts from the other end. For example, Umesh Yadav carries the role for India.
We last had Shahadat Hossain in that role. After him our bowling have become one-dimensional with spinners bowling from both end most of the time, with only short short bursts from pacers.
Clarification: by workhorse I mean a pacer who can still keep his SR below 60. Otherwise, he should have no place in the team as a specialist bowler.

If we have Mustafiz as our strike pacer...then either of Abu Jayed or someone else can be the workhorse. Jayed has the ability to swing the ball, but I'm not sure if he can in BD conditions. He bowled well on debut in the West Indies but he may not trouble better teams. Since he's been picked, I would like to see Khaled Ahmed and see what he has to offer. He looks like a big tall dude, so if he can bowl around 135-140 and bowl long spells, it might be useful to have him around.

I dont like the fact that Mustafiz is playing tests right before the world cup. We cant afford another
Fizz injury just for playing tests against Zim.

Agree with simon. Generally a scrap is finished within 30 seconds or 2 minutes max. You don't drag a a fight for 90 years. Make it quick. Make it fast. Make it blitz. Make it smash n grab.
If you go out there with the mentality of surviving or playing out the overs by bowling then you are already in defensive mindset.
I will also again echo and agree with my father. "Test cricket uthaye deway uchit." Some people are so disingenuous and will blindly follow authority - just because so and so said it- or because it some kind of 'stupid heritage or tradition' or that we nincompoops mussn 'get it' if we are against Test.
No. No one watches dot balls after dot balls ad nauseum. At least not out of some effort. If you are in frikkin Dhaba and the tv happens to be on sure you will watch it.
But its not like 'Gee let me skip work or wake up at 4:00 am to watch some boring, yawn inducing 80 dot balls.'
Cricket is all about marketability. What the hell is the point of a sport if no one watches it...
And as someone mentioned. "Oh oh it must be because your team is not doing well." No you moron. Some of us don't like to parrot back authority or mainstream or even majority opinion thinking that maketh it right or true or 'fact'.
Nothing is fact under the sun.
Proust and Joyce are also classics but doesn't mean you will read every single word of them. No self-respecting bookstore w ill devote enormous shelf space for them.
I bet most of the people who tout test cricket don't even watch even regular cricket since they are so 'busy'.

Think Rhodes hoping to see a bouncy wicket at Sylhet-
Quote:
"Most importantly, we are working on batters for conditions like New Zealand, England, West Indies, South Africa and Australia. I understand there's a lot of work to do.
"Because the home wicket is little bit more docile compared to the bounce and seam of Antigua, it means it is sometimes difficult to put [our skills] into place."
Of course, Rhodes knows achieving this goal of his will not be easy. "Trying to bring in slight changes to cope with the bounce and seam, whilst we play on these sorts of wickets is often quite difficult to do," he admitted.
