Players played hard ball and you expect BCB play softball? How realistic is that expectation?

Board as the custodian of the sport needs to resolve the situation. The longer this plays out it's the organization (the Board) who has more to loose from this, especially with a marquee tour of India coming up. The onus is on them to find a solution to the gridlock rather than throwing mud at their own employees (players).

That is the expectation.

I think this saga will end these three players career: Tamim, Imrul and Riyad. BCB will look for excuse to cut them.

Mushfiq should not stop worrying about his career. Hie WK will be taken off, no more special privileged, his role in the team will be diminished. if his batting dry up, he need to worry sooner than later... no more BCb backing up his bad time.

But then .... there may be few back stabber when this strike start to crack....they can get back the favor from BCB. Who is he?

When employees put their employer under the bus without going through the proper channel, expecting Employer to be idealistic is stupidity. Welcome to the real world.

The line has been crossed. Don't expect civil negotiation. BCB will use every arsenal in his possession to discredit the striking players. This is just the beginning of the ugliness, more is on the way.

And trust me, BCB directors have nothing to worry about their individual positions, its the national players who have to worry about their positions. few head will fall, and it will not be BCB's.

Look at the current situation and set your expectation accordingly.... that is more intelligent way to do it.

When players play hard ball, how much realistic it is to expect for BCB to play soft ball?

When employee plays dirty and vomit dirty laundry in public (example: accusation of fixed games in all divisions) instead of trying to resolve the issues privately (due process), whether you like it or not, line has been crossed. Don't expect civil negotiation....more dirty laundry will be spilled by both sides.

Shouldn't addressing match fixing accusation be one of the major demand from the players? How come that is mentioned but conveniently ignored in their 11 point demand?

Papon said the players didnt come him. But it seems like players did, even few days ago, Akram was asked a question regarding players salary. Also there was a report stating that players demanded AC and better indoor facilities for the last 10 years. Nothing has been addressed. I dont know who to trust now

They waited for 10 years and they couldn't even wait for their strike for few days notifying their plan of action to their own players like Mashrafee and/or BCB. What's so rush?

As some of us said before, some of their demands are very reasonable. The timing is the question.

Players chose this time because they have an important series coming up. And they know very well that BCB will not ruin the relationship with BCCI. They thought this is the prime moment to have their demands addressed. timing is wrong but I think players chose this time purposely.

Did they demanded in good spirit or not, that is the question.

Wondering what was their goal? Creating a buzz and putting BCB in wrong foot? Or getting demand met? When one party is forced to come to agreement, its not a win-win proposition. When both party comes in good faith and come to agreement, that's when you get a win-win proposition.

Now few things can happen and none will bring good in long term:

1. BCB forced to negotiate and then take action against the trouble makers, and eliminate them.

2. BCB cancel the BCCI tournament and take the heat and play hardball with the players.

3. BCB create a crack on players and take the weaker/inexperienced/new players to BCCI with the logic, either way we will have a bad series. Pretty much the trouble maker will be sidelined.

One of the problem is right now their player's association may not be 100% representing themselves. When the president (ex national captain) of the association is also director of BCB, there is a clear conflict of interest. They should demand long time ago about that. That could help the player's association play a more powerful role resolving some of the demand in the background.

After watching papon's reaction, i have zero sympathy towards BCB now. Zero.

Actually i am glad now our player choose this particular time to protest.

Rahim has an understanding with the board. They let him keep the gloves, and he remains an inside informant. That's why he had such a worried expression on his face in the outdoor presser.

"I want to see who goes to the [NCL] matches, or the national camp. I want to find out who is trying to stop the India tour. I am hopeful the camp will take place, and the India tour will happen," he said. "Most of the players want to play, and want the best for Bangladesh. I can't believe they will destroy Bangladesh cricket for 5,000 taka. But we will soon see what is going on."

Quote:
Hassan then deflected a series of questions about the board's conflict of interest problem, which was part of the issues the players had with the board. When asked how committed he was to reducing conflict of interest within the board, especially after the BCB ended franchise rights deals following Shakib Al Hasan's move to Rangpur Riders from Dhaka Dynamites, which is owned by the same company where he and two other board directors are employed, Hassan had no answer.

He also deflected questions about other conflict of interest points including that of the CWAB chairman Naimur Rahman also having the role of a BCB director, Khaled Mahmud holding eleven roles within the BCB and outside, and home broadcaster Gazi TV having a BCB director as its owner.

Hassan finished the press conference saying that he had no idea about some of these conflicts, but he would find out.

Any man or woman with an iota of self-respect would have resigned by now.

So you are saying he is the back stabber (that I mentioned)?

#3 is out of the question since all the players joined the strike except the U19 players. Dont think BCB will send U19 team to face India

We as cricket fans should stand behind the cricketers.

We also know how crooked BCB is.

Its premature to discount BCB's possible "divide and conquer" policy.

Not every body is in Sakib's position where he can happily retire now with lots of maony and accomplished stat to carry with him.

They (other players) love the sports but its also their profession. they cannot effort to derail their career. Once you are set in national team, only then fame and money start coming in much higher rate.

As times goes on, don't discount player revolt from strike.

The timing of the strike (right before the India series) was absolutely crucial, because this is the only sure-fire weapon that the players' have at their disposal.

The BCB was never going to resolve anything if the grievances had been conveyed to them in private; years of inaction are more than sufficient evidence of this. The BCB, as a hyper-political organization, always go on a witchhunt to ferret out and marginalize the "bad apples" when a person or group are perceived to be threatening the BCB's corrupt practices. As such, the players desperately needed a massive hammer to wield over the BCB's heads in order to effect change.

Even if the BCB now tries to divide and conquer (which they seem to be doing), good luck trying to put together a remotely competitive team for the upcoming India series. Whether many or a few non-national team players join the strike is immaterial now. The top players are boycotting an historic and financially lucrative series; that's all that matters.

That after nearly 20 years of test status the custodians of our country's cricket still can't provide for basic necessities is a shameful testament of the men and women in positions of power in Bangladesh. In any private organization (certainly in the West), these people would have been fired without severance a very long time ago for gross negligence, corruption, general incompetence, and malice.

In short, somebody needed to give the BCB a good kick up the back side. And, finally, the boot is firmly lodged up their anus. It took far too long, but better late than never.

I hope and pray that the players are ultimately successful in bringing about lasting change.

Hopefully a compromise will be reached. Bcb said most demands are already being implemented, if so whats the problem?

BCB has far less credibility than the players IMO.

#2 wont happen because BCCI will crush BCB and BD cricket. Allthough we have lots of dorod for them they wont hesitate to destroy us, especially as Ganguly (who dislikes BD) is now the boss.
