Also, I am betting he will score a 60-70 since his position in the test team is in doubt. Then he will again sleep for another 4-5 series before scoring another career saving 50. This phenomenon is called The Mullah Cycle.

Riyad is a much more inconsistent player than tamim and shakib, can't compare them. Riyad has to be compared to guys like soumya and sabbir at this point, the others are all out performing him, significantly.

Tamim, shakib, mushy have improved consistency in tests over time, riyad hasn't, they've even started to score tons much more regularly which riyad hasn't done either.

Whatever his test career may hold after this test match, he is not going down without a fight that's for sure though, batting at over 2 hours and 140 balls (as of now) in a second innings, high pressure situation. I am just glad he recognized that it was do or die for him. He still has a mediocre average though.

Mullah scoring that 50 is the worst thing that could have happened to us today. Now he will use to ride the team for the next 5 years.

I mentioned somewhere while back. If anyone could check out his last 12-18 innings of balls faced and runs scored at test, it be interesting to see if it's true.

I've noticed and it seems Riyad, can only play a certain amount of balls, or score a certain amount of runs, either one one is likely. These certain amounts, are his prime zones after that there comes his danger zones of bad concentration, judgement or reckless shot.

These are the two amounts, between 20-70 run mark, and 20-70 balls faced. But today obviously he smashed the 100+ ball faced challenge for the first time since possibly the innings he played with Abul Hasan in 2012 against WI. He faced 149 balls, so that is one suspicion out. but he was still in the 20-70run runs scored mark, so he did get out in one of them, by losing concentration/cool and played reckless shot.

Not good enough. No number 4 in world cricket should be scoring 1 50 in 2 years.

Those who get easily satisfied will be satisfied with this.

Question most reading this might ask, typically. Where is the replacement?
Well, Mossadekk, Nasir, Liton, Nafees. Available.

One might think he did great facing 149balls. But, don't forget pitch was a good one, didn't entirely rip apart and caused such trouble as was expected on 4th and 5th day.

What did he do when the going got hard in nz? Even there the wicket was flat ish with good carry but nothing malicious (other than early morning swing) but still Mahmudullah failed miserably, getting out such easy fashion. He did same thing at home against England, who can forget the end of day, last ball wild hack shot he got out too.

He had plenty of chances. Time to move on. Cant forgive his shots against England, NZ, many a times getting out after good solid starts, never seems to know how to kick on and get big ton (who am I kidding, the guy only has one ton in his test life out of 31 tests). Maybe I'm expecting too much from a limited test batsman.

Mark my words, he is one step away from being kicked out of the national team forever.

If he scores anything less than a 50, its a kick to the backside, he might not get a chance to bat as well, in that case it's still a kick but an unfortunate kick where he can't prove himself one last time.

So we are back to the original position, it is make or break time for him yet again. Score a hundred next innings to cement position for this series, otherwise bring Mosaddek in next match what do you guys say??

last innings for him. He deoesnt deserve any more chances... And I say this as the biggest Riyad fan in this forum. There are guys back home that are working harder and harder late in their career with no hope. Go back to domestics, show us you belong in this format consistently and then you can be reconsidered if the team needs you at that point...

Oh no, everyone is predicting the end of his test career. Now he will score a useless 50 once again.
