Bangladesh fielding in the final
7.4 Rubel Hossain to Rahul, 1 run, full and outside off, blocks to point and demands a quick single. It's risky. Rohit is in trouble as Mehidy dives to his right and gets up, taking aim at the stumps. Rohit has given up, and the throw goes wide!
12.6 Mustafizur Rahman to Pandey, 1 run, slaps it to extra cover - straight to Liton Das - and runs! There is no way he is making his ground. He's not even in the frame when the throw comes.... and goes just wide of the stumps. Mustafizur was right beside it, why wasn't he backing up?
[this one was the worst! Mash once screamed at Liton for not appealing properly. He would have murdered him here.]
16.2 Soumya Sarkar to Pandey, 2 runs, yorker on middle, Pandey slices it to deep point and races back for the second as well. The throw is flat but it's just wide enough that in the time Mushfiqur takes to guide it onto the stumps, Pandey is safe
16.5 Soumya Sarkar to Shankar, 1 run, yorker on middle, Vijay digs it out and looks for a single. It's very risky, Sarkar only needs to go a couple of steps to his right to collect it. The throw is underarmed. Vijay gives up. But the ball misses target
19.1 Soumya Sarkar to Shankar, 1 wide, full toss down leg, Vijay Shankar can't get bat to it, he can't get a bye either -might have been run-out if Mushfiqur had hit - but the umpire does his job and calls a wide.
[correction: Shankar had given up and would have been OUT]

Well, SL fielding in the second match vs us was even worse. Plenty of bad throws, and missed run out chances. So had they fielded well, perhaps we would not have made it to the final.

I remember the SA series in Bangladesh where Bangladesh's fielding looked better than SA's. The next best I remember is Mashrafe's last T20 international match. Bangladesh has to be more consistent with the field. Fielding can make a lot of difference.

Mehedy was at point, which is reserved for the best fielder and I think he is just garbage.
Also this Apu guy is another helpless fielder.
And that last catch in the India game, no calling nothing. That could have ended up quite badly.

India saved 15-20 runs at least with ground fielding. And if you consider the excellent catches-dismissal of Tamim; placement of Dhawan to get Sarkar, you can add another 15-20.
Meanwhile not only was our ground fielding poor, we were missing the stumps with ample time in hand.

The catching was decent, the ground fielding rubbish. We ALWAYS hit the stumps when the batsman is already in and getting ready to face the next ball.
Not surprised though, the fielding coach is sent on a Vacation. Probably had a ego clash with the players or Sujon.

I thought BD's batting and bowling were both okay. Unlike 99% of this forum, I even thought the captaincy was fine. Shakib had to make hard decisions and sometimes the dice rolls the other way. But the ground fielding was just awful. How the hell can a bowler not back up for a runout? Or a keeper miss three stumps by not throwing underarm?

Ground Fielding
I remember few years back we had three different coach and our fielding was at a different level. This is when Banglawash happened.
ICC better start a Fielding ranking chart and may start issuing little bonus amount for the top 5 or 3 unlike top 10 for batting and bowling.

7.4 Rubel to Rahul
12.6 Fizz to Pandey
16.2 SS to Pandey
Couldn't find it in the highlights
16.5 SS to Shankar
19.1 SS to Shankar
Couldn't find it either.
Damn Indian media taking off even the highlights from everywhere...
