Default "asks for reduction in meaningless cricket!"

May 30, 2011
From SBNS, Dhaka

"Vettori asks for reduction in meaningless crickets*"

New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has asked for a reduction in the number of meaningless five-dayers, especially in extended bilateral series with Bangladesh. His statements have come at a time when the Kiwis got a complimentary “Bangla-Wash” in the five-dayers by the Tigers and also when ICC is reviewing the Future Tours Program, with plans to conduct a five-day league running over four years.

"Why are we playing these extended five-day series which is boosting the Tigers instead of us," Vettori told the New Zealand Herald. "What's the point? Hopefully the ICC follows these proposals through because I'd like to have more riding on every game. The number of games needs to be reduced so our fans enjoy them more again which also reduces the chances to lose to the Bangals."

Despite New Zealand's forgettable 2010 - the team won only one Test, and suffered one-day whitewashes in Bangladesh and India - and his own age, Vettori was keen on carrying on after the 2015 World Cup, where he is expected to lead the side again.

"I am keeping my options open [after the World Cup]," Vettori said. "It's incredibly difficult when you make a statement, as I originally did a long time ago that I was going to give up the captaincy. I think it's better to play your cards close to your chest and, when the timing is right and you get the right feeling about things, you make decisions from there. At this World Cup I'll only be 36, so hopefully there is plenty of cricket left in me.”

"I have learned a lot from Ice Man, the Bangla captain, how to win matches despite playing against thirteen men squad. Though I am hopeful the umpires and match referee would continue what they are doing and hope ICC would reduce Bangla’s both away and home matches to prevent embarrassments of being “Bangla-Washed” and save the “elites” from the hungry Tigers."

Vettori was the only Consistent memeber in the New Zealand team in October....
He is not a loser, more like when shakib was captain throught the first three Quarters in 2010 he does not have much to work with.

Well, I used to like Vettori having a "good" soul, but unfortunately seems he is missing it a bit....
Now he is asking for reducing ODIs where his friends are asking to reduce TESTs and one day his another "sada" buddy might want to cut down the T20 and starts SIX -A SIDE!?

I see another shot at the Tigers to cut them out...
But every xxxxxxxxx will eventually fail and one day "they" will beg for a visit...

The cricinfo article is worded more nicely than the one you presented where Vetori is looking down on us. Funny how media once again plays a big role on how we look at things ...
