Default 'Can't go past 13 in Fitness Test'

Coach basically said we have s((())) fitness. Again and again I have harped on it. Fitness IS everything. You can write lamentations and odes on as much technique and batting in the nets as possible but hey practising in nets is same as sparring in the net. Icing on the cake. We don't wanna do the hard work, clean the grease off the rung and grind. (My another intuitive notion is that if somehow all these ripped a-- black athletes...lol from America were to pick up cricket first they shall struggle with technique and odd mannerisms of holding bats and to bowl... but then there will be massive growth. Why else do you think Afghans whoops our sorrya--?)

Fitness matters. Not enough grind, mucho pilpul and waxing stupid theories as if you can hack this game. As if you bring Sunil Joshi or a carrom ball coach or find some stupid statistical loophole like Moneyball we will come back with trophy. Did you see how nailbitingly close the finale was? Every shaving and inching and covering of ground matterd...

It's not F-- rocket science or EXACTLY HARD guys. You see ball, you hit it. How complicated can it possible be? Sometimes people overthinks and overcomplicates simple problem (NASA pen/penicl et al.)... and this is the problem of thinktank members here where we tend to analyze every microsecond and micropixels and microballs...

This why alphas like McCullum, Gilchrist, and pretty much every Aussies... succeeded in pure BRUTE male-testosterone-driven macho approach of just hitting every godddamn ball of out of the park. Consider it a puzzle or a computer simulation problem to be solved. Problem: Score as much runs as possible for the team.

How ffin hard is it?

There is also the analysis-paralysis. We have too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

See, anyone can win 800m in Olympics. Just ffin run. All those filigrees of sports nutrition and psychology will cover later. But no one bars Kenyan or Ethiopian do that. Special Forces? Fffin pushups all day.

tl;dr? : A person with superior biomechanical performance will outperform any other opponent on any given day. And fitness plays a huge component in biomechanics. Just frikkin look at the fortune Lebron spends for maintenance of his body.

Yasir Ali aka Akram Khan 2.0 failed the fitness test.

Other failures - Ashraful, Nasir, Tushar, Dhiman, Elias, Razzak.

How come no one from national team participated in this test? I really wanted to see how much Tamim would have scored

Lol, can't believe these players have the balls to even complain, being professional athletes.

But I can't blame them either. National team superstars looks like your avg uncle body fella. Domestic players views that as success.

This is where the next gen Indian players will be world apart from the rest of the Asian counterparts. Their fab 5 never really had an 'athletic body' - skill wise top notch. Then came Kohli who changed fitness all together, also is an excellent player. Younger kids looks at him and wants to be him. Where as our kids looks at Shakib and Tamim, but sees a Fatman and a 'I don't want to be captain' type of attitude. How do you expect their mentality to change. It will take another Shakib - less lazy and fitness oriented type of player to change our gen of cricketers. Bar is already set to low

^ Kohli didn't start out fit though. I was watching an interview he did recently, where he said he only got into shape after he started eating healthy. Diet is very important.

Tamim and Mashrafe had gotten skinny in the middle, but now they have regained their weight. Same here. My pants didn't fit anymore only a month after I started a diet plan where I had carbs just two days a week, rest all vegetables and white meat. But now I have been lured back to carbs. It really sucks. Need to remind myself nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.

It's true that Kohli did not start off as a fitness desired body athlete, but changed his attitude/diet in the middle of his career. He is more close to his retirement than his debut, just like our fab 5. People tends to mostly remember how someone crossed the finish line, rather than how they started. Unfortunately for our fab 5, we will remember them as someone who hogs a place when not suitable for a position/team, has no desire to change their attitude, miniscule mentality when pressure comes down, so on and so forth.

For example, these days, many bashes down on Tamim - hell even wants to see him get dropped - for his selfish batting style. Rewind back couple of years, he was the best of the best we had. He was un-dropable. Same with mashrafee. Shakib of yesterday was much better than the Shakib of today (hunger and desire wise). This is what the current under 19 and under sees as success. Where as Indian players looks at players like kholi who keeps on promoting that you meet to be fit, work hard, etc.

Tamim is quite bit. He's already back at a training. Mushy is also very fit. Shakib is just not very athletic to begin with. Riyad also prides himself on his fitness. They would all pass a fitness test. The only surprising failure is skinnyass Nasir failing it.
