BCB XI to take part in Indian Zonal Tournament
It is called Mini Ronjee. 16 teams are divided in 4 zones. BCB in zone B.
Team:
Taskin, Taizul, Shadman, Rahi, Shanto, Mominul, Ebadat, Robiul, Zahurul, Ariful, Yasir, Saif, Naeem, Nurul, Shahidul(?)
Not sure who is that last player in the list. Probably the same guy who was having marital trouble and barely in form.

Shahidul Islam and Mohammad Shahid are two different players, albeit both are medium pacers and hail from Naraynganj. Shahidul is yet to get into national news for sleeping around with women outside marriage, or enjoying any other sort of perks that come with stardom (may be because he is still not that well known). He came to be noticed during last BCL, helped himself earning a BPL contract as well.
Here is his CI profile - http://www.espncricinfo.com/banglade...yer/56125.html

Yes, OK to merge. I did not notice your thread before. Also, thanks for Shahidul bio link.

Records are not counted since these matches don't have first class status.

This is ridiculous. BCB snubbed AFG A-team, fielded our B-team against them, and sent the A-team against bunch of club players trying to get into their state sides.

If they are trying to get into their state side, they are still at least as good as AFG A team. We have to remember that our first fixture in the new Test League is in India. We have sent quite a number of guys who will likely feature in the Test team to help them acclimatise. Good move IMO.
Playing Indian club players in India is still better than playing Afghanistan or Zimbabwe A teams at home.

I totally agree. I don't know why people are degrading playing in Indian domestic scene. The Ranji trophy is the feeder system for test match cricket.

This is not Ranji, but a tournament for State 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th XIs (Karnataka fielded four teams here). Only an arrogant Indian fan will find it degrading that I rated AFG A-team a better challenge.

If this was a serious Ranji side, this BCB team wouldn't manage 500. Seems like some B side is playing.

Yeah, lets pick Shanto for the next Test series based on this glorious century. NOT!
AFG don't produce good batsmen, but their bowlers are as good as any other country. I would rate Bijoy's century against Yamin Ahmadzai and Qais Ahmad much higher.
We need to move past the point where matches against County/State 2nd XIs carry any significance for national team selection. I would even rate performances in our own domestic FC leagues higher.
It may be a good way to earn experience for inexperienced Academy players like Saif or Shanto, but certainly ridiculous to send experienced guys like Momin or Taijul here.

No live updates. You can get a summary on BCB twitter page at the end of the day.
Shanto was 24 not out overnight.
