I said Pak needs to loose for us to get better chance. They will be out of wc if they loose against nz as nrr will not help them even if they beat us somehow.

This Pak team is exactly playing like they played in 92. Their win loss pattern is exactly the same. Need to break that pattern.

Sometimes it feels like this whole wc is scripted if you look at Pakistan's pattern.
No you didn’t say Pakistan needs to lose to give us a better chance. You literally said if Pakistan wins they are going to the Semis. In this thread where we are essentially doing calculations to see the scenarios for qualification, that statement spreads misinformation.

Just because their win/loss pattern is the same does not mean they are playing the same. This is pure coincidence and has nothing to do with qualification or wins. Not the same team, not the same quality of competitions, not the same quality of leader. Their win loss pattern is inconsequential.

Also, nothing is guaranteed. So that point really makes no sense. We beat them, we are ahead of them. It’s simple and it’s in our control.

Need to beat India otherwise we don't deserve to go through. Semi-finals are for teams that deserve to go through because these are the the best sides in ODI Cricket right now.

Then why have points table?

ICC isn't your parents who will give you what you deserve as their kid. You have to earn points to go where you want to go.

our game vs PAK was always a must win. now it is potentially a knockout match for both sides. how juicy will that contest be. I will have to revise my earlier odds that BD was 60-40 favorites...PAK are hitting peak form. BD are only 51-41 favorites now...

Main thing is England needs to lose to India and NZ.

Even if we lose to India, we can get through by beating PAK. Net run rate is also critical. So it is important that we bat out 50 overs against India. If that means another Slowmim Dotball innings, so be it. Very unlikely we are beating India with our current bowling attack.

seems everybody is forgetting Sri Lanka...if the lacklustre Lankans manage to beat the sad Saffers and knock the wind out of the windies; suddenly they’re sitting pretty on 10 pts and all these ‘9 pts scenarios’ aren’t worth jack s**t

If you are right, then Aus & Pak also don't deserve..

Today's match doesn't change anything for us.

We have to beat Pakistan to have any chance of progressing. If we beat Pakistan, they are out due to poor NRR unless they thump Afghanistan. If we also beat India, our position becomes very strong.

This leaves, Sri Lanka and England. Sri Lanka has three tough matches is likely to win only 1 against West Indies leaving them on 8 points.

England must win against India on Saturday to maintain their status as favourite to progress. If that happens, we will have no option but to beat both India and Pakistan, as England will be sitting on 10 points, and our 1 win will leave us with 9 points.

The way NZ played, quite sure will fold against ENG aswell. IND is our last hope of kicking ENG out of the tournament.

I am hopeful. Birmingham venue Edgbaston favors slower bowlers...so we may have a chance if conditions favor us.

We have to bat first and the pitch needs to become slow like this in the 2nd innings. Or else India's leg spinners will create massive problems for us.

What’s wrong with saffers man?

I was feeling pretty good about the SA win but not if they finish just above... or below Afghanistan

Incompetence ekta limit asey. Limit charai jaitese dekhi

Can’t believe Faf, De Kock, Rabada and Amla can be so spineless.

India win both West Indies and England games, theyre qualified, and its a dead rubber for them against us.

Can see them resting players, and going super easy on us.
