Lets talk about Tamim
I know there are lot of tamim fans out there. I am one of them as well. Its not about form only, he has been in the team along with shakib, mushfiq but he hasn’t won us matches the way shakib and mushfiqur or riyad did in high pressure games. He is one of the most senior player but failed to deliver in all the world cups he has played except for the 50 on debut. He had a terrible 2011, 2015 and 2019 run in the wc. If one of your most senior player cant perform at the highest level then whats the point investing all those years on a failed player? Let’s face it, tamim came before t20 era and had a glimpse of Saeed Anwar and occasional brainfarts of dancing down the track. But one day cricket has changed. Tamim is more suited in tests than one dayers. He wastes way to many balls to get settled and then throws it way putting the team in trouble. Just imagine if Tamim could played half of what shakib played then we would be in a good position. Tamim has just been rubbish and bd is carrying this rubbish on its shoulder. His dropped catch of Rohit really set the tone for this loss!

Tamim is a minnow basher, performs in non-critical series. I have said this many many times, he never fired in any games where BD needed to win.
I will forgive him for dropping the catch as it is part of of te game and he also took many unbelievable flying catches before. But he should have batted more responsively. He is more of a test player than a T20 or ODI player. He wasted so many balls in this world cup.
Anyway, we need to fire Walsh also and get McKenzy type of bowling coach from SA.

Take a long break from LOI cricket. Focus on test matches for 6months. Or just retire from LOI. Choose one or other, to stay at ODI or to leave T20s because world T20 coming up and Bangladesh certainly can not have a tuk tuk at top when theres Liton and Soumya (both despite having Ashraful esque ways to get out, are more dangerous batsmen when they get going and the opponent will worry about).

He has a terrible record in the most important matches. Even in the tri-nation series final it was Soumya who was scoring

If I invite him, he will head to the kitchen and finish the pot even before the waiter has the chance to serve it.

Not saying Tamim did great, infact he was a big let down. However Soumya didn't even get to score a half-century in this entire world cup.

Tamim has been always poor in World Cups. He is one of the best opening batsman but he can’t maintain the same intensity and form at World events. It is a shame as he has abilities.

Nothing really to talk about, his performances were as expected.
He will recover his form for bilateral series, we will call him world class and be full of praises etc

His first World Cup performance is etched in history and most cricket fans, including a vast majority of Indians, will never forget that innings. Despite such a promising start he's been poor ever since. So ironic!

Imam Ul Haq is the better nephew. He is slow as well, but at least he didn't take years to improve his average.

It's so true. But he was a reliable fielder before today's match.

Mentally weak player. The occasion gets to him everytime we have a crunch game. Otherwise why would a safe fielder like him drop an easy catch or a wonderful batsman like him have a lean patch in WCs?

You guys cuss soumya
The guy averages 30 with a strike rate of 100
Shakib averages 37
Tamim 36
These guys were averaging in the 20s when they were unreliable
Soumya is unreliable and in the 30
Imagine when he becomes reliable
He’ll be mid 40s easy and maintaining a strike rate of 90+
Chip in with overs if he works on it
Will easily be our MVP once the big 5 go

When you need to chase 210 from 24 overs, you would rely more on Soumya than Tamim. It's not always about technique. It's about the attitude of a batsman. Soumya is the perfect example of a modern day batsman.
He stays still and hit the ball on top of the bounce. Another thing that helps him is his height. I don't expect him to do well in low and sluggish wicket but I will back him on batting belters unless we find someone else who can bat with the same intensity and more consistency.
That thing I said in the first paragraph wasn't just a hypothetical situation. That actually happened and we all saw who did what.

For starters, he and mosa won us our first triseries /ice cream cup. Which was not done by any of our seniors.
I am not backing him. I like liton more than him.
But one has to ask a question whether we can afford playing with out him. It's true that He is not the best we have got. But none other than him brings the same equation in the game. May be liton.
He will fail more often than not. But the difference between him and others is that he has the ability to do
what no body else has.
His role is pre decided by the team management. He was generally the agressor in almost every game. You have to accept that the agressor might get out on the next ball.
In the last game his role was reversed to anchoring. But he failed. The ball deserved to be hit. He hit it. I found kohli, rohit, somya, musfik liton, shakib wicket similar. All of them set, but got out to slowball. On any other day, that would have gone for a 4.
How ever, I agree, he has been avg this wc. he also can't play spin and finds it hard to play on slow pitches (bpl pitches).
However, whatever we say, he, liton mosa & shabir will be persisted with unless and untill we find a better player.

Tamim had a bad world cup. Perhaps because he wanted it too badly. In a funny way too much eagerness to do well might have impacted his performance. Still our greatest ever Opener and the best batsmen we ever produced along with Mushy. Form is temporary, class is permanent and he is all class - On and off the field.
